Dark eldar reaper

So I played at a 2v2 this past weekend using the reaper (we won with a perfect score). But i learned that the so called beam the reaper has isn't a beam! Is it worth taking?

It has an attack option of 'beam' that lacks the 'beam' psychic witchfire attack type. I'm guessing for some period of time he thought it had that effect.

Yeah it's described as a beam to differentiate it from the blast type, but it's a description not a rule.

GW (including forgeworld in that) often use words that mislead like this - though the best example of it wasn't even their fault. A guy at my club doesn't like buying rules, or understanding them, and when reading about his manticore, decided it had a rule that made it twin linked. Turns out it wasn't a rule for the manticore at all, he just picked a rulebook special rule that sounded similar.
