1K Campaign List

My FLGS will be running a campaign soon, anyone can enter with a 1K list which will be fixed for the duration of the campaign. No LOW or Unbound allowed, so nothing too extreme to worry about in opponents. The rest of the rules is still being worked on, I'll update here as we go along.

In the meantime, I'd like your feedback on the following list:

Archon
- Agoniser, Blaster, Shadowfield

Grotesques
- 3 + Abberation, 1 LQ gun
- Raider, DL

2x 5 Kabalites
- Blaster
- Venom, dual cannons

Dark Artisan Formation
- Haemie (WWP, Scissorhand)
- Talos (Ichor Gauntlet, HL)
- Cronos (Probe)

980 points, so 20 still left to play with. Also have not yet decided who to make my Warlord.

My thinking is that at 1K I won't be facing too many AV, mostly infantry. DA can threaten opponent's backfield and any vehicles that might be there, Grots and Archon shoot up the board and engage the largest juicy target. Venoms and Kabbies thin out any hordes or put the hurt on MC's.

Haemy's warlord trait is very strong in my opinion but conquerer of cities in strategic traits in BRB is ckearly overpowered if you manage to roll it.

Give the archon the soultrap and make the blaster a splint pistol give him a haywire grenade no sense in giving him an agonized if your not going all in on melee.

I would use those 15 points that just got cleared up to make a warrior a syabrite and give him a haywire

Not going all in on melee? He's in a unit of Grotesques! A splinter pistol and HWG both have shorter range than a blaster, and he can only fire on or throw the other. Plenty of Marine opponents, Powerfists and Thunderhammers galore, so I'm not too keen on having my Archon enter challenges. No Soultrap for him.

HWG points also apply to the Sybarite; blasters range 18 inch, why would the Venom move any closer than that? While embarked, the unit is Fearless, so little point in the extra LD.

sry but achon dont fear anyone wtih a powerfist and others in a challenge he have 2++ so its more like him, to die if he take hit from the other marines and you have an aberation for the time you get close to the name characters that can kill him alone so if you are with a mele achon put him with soultrap and agonaizer or at least the agonaizer you not pay the grotesquies to stay sit to see your archon shoot 1 blaster

I've given him an Agoniser, so there. I've found he's hardly ever in a challenge, making a soultrap a waste of points - for me, at least. The blaster does not affect the Grots in any way.
