Newbie- 1500 pts army list

right here is my initial layout for a 1500 hybrid list built around two battle forces. Constructive criticism is very welcome as i'm a bit of a newbie.

The shock prow with tgl is a cool idea i got off another blog and wil use them to break units before running them down with everything else. I run my three raiders up the board hopefully into/behind cover before deploying my haemies and squads and deploying my wwp from which i will bring my wyches, ravers, cronos, and blood brides from.

Welcome, lets us begin!!!

HQ: Haemies are decent, but your gear isnt. WWPs are only good if you are going full WWP army, because those raiders wont last past T1, I would either drop them and go full raider rush, or keep them and change the list around.

Hexrifles are also another very meh wargear. If you are trying to drop a portal (which is what you seem to want, so Ill keep going with it) you want to keep them cheap. I like LG and WWP, as they normally arent going to survive, and if they do, they can flamer something.

Duke is a good HQ, but he is not good for a WWP army, I would drop him and save on points. Also having so many points in HQ at 1.5k is alittle absurd.

Elites: If you are dropping Duke, I would either drop the Trueborn, or switch them over to Blasterborn (4 Trueborn w/ 4 Blasters) These are great AT for their points, and with a WWP you can walk them into cover and make the enemy move them.

Bloodbrides can be good, but first off lets look how you have them. You dont have a Sargeant without a power weapon, so its going to be an uphill battle against MEQ (Marine Equivulant). Also I dont like Hydra Gauntlets, and prefer Razorflails if you want full killy potential, but that is just personal preferance. Try them out and see for yourself. I would also invest in Haywire Grenades, as you dont want your super awesmoe sauce Bloodbrides get tied up by a Dread all game.

10 Warriors with blaster, ok... thats alot of abrasive wounds for just 1 blaster. Either go with 5 and a blaster, or 10 with a SC and blaster (WWP I would go with the latter, as it gives you more choices) Also drop the raiders and let them come out of the portal.

Wyches are fine, yet they suffer from the same problem as the Bloodbrides, follow as directed. Also Wyches are made to tie up units, so Instead of the other wych weapons, just use Shardnets, as you just push him up to a sarge and laugh. Also one squad of wyches isnt much, Id put atleast two, or drop them completely.

I would also add 3 wracks w/ a venom here. These can be a cheap way for you to drop both portal T1. Also they dont take many points, so you can use them elsewhere.

FA: I prefer reavers as AT, but to each their own. Other than that they are fine, just expensive.

I would also try to add more FA slots. If you are going to use a WWP, there are things that are too good to pass up (namely Beasts, but scourges have their value)

HS: Must Have Talos!!!! It is the reason for a WWP. A Chronos is alright, yet nothing beats two Taloi running down the field. You can keep the Chronos, just remember its AI, not AT.

The Razorwing is out of place. Its all AI, when you definately need AT. Also its not using your portal, and is going to get picked off being so high on the stand. Just drop it for another Talos.

Right, I've taken what you've said into account but I have a few questions. Firstly you said i had to go for a full wwp army if i wanted one and that my raiders will get shot down turn one. I need those raiders to get my haemis with wwp up the field so i can deploy the wwp, don't I? and if so, how do I get my wwp up to the enemy safely?
Also I was thinking about deploying some scourges, so how many should i get and how should i use/ equipt them?
Third and final question. What are the pros and cons of the talos vs. the cronos?

Q1: yes, some type of transport is the easiest way to get the portals into place, but right now your fielding 3 (2 on the warriors and 1 on the Trueborn). I normally go with 2 venoms with 3 wracks, as the unit deploying the WWP probably wont survive to T2. They are cheap and effective, and are pretty much 95 pt throw aways. Keep your two transports and units cheap because they wont survive.

Q2: Since you need more AT, there are two ways you can field scourges. First is Heat Lances, and while they get the job done, its pretty much sucicide duty for the scourges. The plus side is that since you are going with a portal deployment, you will almsot always get them into the 9" range.

The second way is with Haywire Blasters, which is my prefered method of having scourges. They can stunlock tanks all day so your big baddies can get into combat with them.

Q3: With the Chronos' weapons, he is built for AI. The Talos on the other hand is more AT/Big Im going to wreck your face style MC. They also can cut tanks right open, while the Chronos can barely touch them, being just S5

Okay so the trueborn and haemis rush up and deploy wwp. I used trueborn instead of wracks because I don't have enough for them in my budget. I see what you have to say about the haywire blasters, and I'm sold, but i gave my second squad of scourges heatlances as the set only comes with one, I believe. So is this list any better?

From the 2nd list I'd be taking the trueborn out and using wracks to escort the heami's.

They are cheaper and count as troops, which means if they survive (unlikely I know) that they could just bugger off home and claim an objective. There is no reason to take naked trueborn over wracks in any list that I can think of.

I completely understand mate but it genuinly comes down to not wanting to pay 66 dollars for two units of wracks. Thank you for all the feed back though

Just proxy the chumps. I use the old grotesgue models but almost anything holding 2 knives would do it.
