Hey Guys,

So I have been off the warhammer scene for the last 8 years and would like to start off where I ended.  Before I took a break I had collected a Skaven & WoC Fantasy armies and GK, CSM and had just started a DE army... SO all the models I currently have are old models, so I will try gel them with the new models.  Looking for any advice on how I can transform this bunch into a competitive fast striking and tactical army.

My Current list is as follows:

So I'm 11pts under...

The models I own are as follows (all old models)

40x Warriors/Trueborn  (plenty of SC's to use or modify to blasters)
 8x Wyches
 2x Raiders
 1x Ravager
 5x Reavers
 3x Incubi
 1x Incubi (dog Chewed)
 1x Talos  (missing parts)

So far the army should have a fast shooty raiding theme with the archon and his small unit of incubi to look cool and take on some smaller combat units that have been shot at.  

What do you guys think? I would really like this list to be competitive as it will be my go to army for 7th ed.  Any advice would be much appreciated and will go a long way in terms of the fact that I still need to purchase a few models (scourges & venoms & 1 reaver lol! ).

You can't take Haywire Blasters on trueborn... so that will free up some points.

Awe thanks for that, ya I know, don't know what the Haywire blasters were doing there, will edit it now... guess it'll be around 1491 pts

Looks good at 1500pts. Lots of units. Fast and furious.

A couple of alternatives:

Your Archons equipment is a bit of waste. Soultrap doesn't work really. Best use of him is with Blaster, Agonizer, Shadowfield and Webway Portal. But get pricey at that point. I like running him with just a Blaster. Cheap and dirty Smile

I'd get Night Shields on your Raiders, they will Jink a lot and it makes a big difference with 3+

I like my scourge units a bit larger. And with Blasters. Hayewires just dont seem to do enough for me. I like that a Blaster can blow up something with a single shot and you can stay 18" away still... Try 8 man Scourges with 4 Blasters and a Solarite for LD. Incubi are fun but not that great at few numbers - Minimum 5 is needed. Preferrably more if you can find the points.

I would portal down a Raider with the Archon and either 5-6 Trueborn with Blasters and a Blast Pistol or a unit of 9 Warriors with Splinter Racks. The Trueborn unit is nice. 6 Blaster shot and a Dark Lance shot from a Raider with blow up most things!

This just making the list more effective maybe not more fun to play... Except the Webway Portal. It's fun and very useful.

Yeah agree, drop the archon gear and give him a blaster and stick him with some truborns, then upgrade that unit of truborns venom into a raider (to fit the archon) archon can even take a WWP if you want.

Dump the incubi and give every raider NS, also remove the NS on the ravager and upgrade its DC to DL

S8 AP2 lance is great for killing tanks and termies pioson weapons for everything else.

DE are not a melee army (unless you stack coven units like grots)

Ok so NS on raider, but why not on the Ravager? Don't really want to Jink with the ravager... DL's would be nice for the ravager, as I don't have 3 DC models for it and would have to convert, however are the DL's actually all that effective against armour when you only have 3 shots, when 3 DC's can put out a lot of hurt against high armour infantry? The plan was to have the ravager provide covering fire from range while the other units push up and take out the armour with blasters/heatlances/haywire blaster. But I guess it is an option if if this list does not provide enough armour penetration.

Dropping the incubi I can understand as it doesn't have much to back it up, but I loved the paint job on the old models. Is the archon of any use otherwise?

The reason for the scourges to be in small groups is to get the maximum fire power out of multiple small targets. I am still not sure whether blasters or haywires are the best for them, the haywires have a better range, but the blasters add the ability to nuke infantry aswell.
