Placing Blast Templates and the board edge

Hey,
I had a bit of an issue in a game on the weekend, and wanted to see if anyone had a cast iron rule to resolve it
Issue- Can a blast template be placed so that the center hole is over a models base, but the edge of the template is of the board edge?
I read the "Blast" rule, and it says if a template scatters, its all good as long as that center hole stays on the board. But it doesn't seem to say if you can deliberately place it there when targeting a unit.
I think you can, but opponent didnt share my view.

Yep.
As long as the tample is centred over a legal model and doesn't hit any of your models, it doesn;t matter if part of the blast is off the table before the catter.

As far as I know as long as the center hole is on the table you are good.
