A Shadowy figure enters...

Hello fellow Archons, Succubi and Haemonculi!
After flirting with 40k for some time, and the destruction of Warhammer Fantasy as we know it (along with my beloved Dark elves). My friends and I felt like there was no better time to start playing in the 41 st millennium and it's really brought my passion back for painting and gaming.
Dark Eldar immediately struck me as the perfect choice with the obvious similarities in lore and models. I'm also a very big fan of "Everything excels at a specific role" type of armies and mobility.
With that being said I know that Dark Eldar are a steep hill to climb and I'm looking forward to the challenge and I thought that this would be the perfect place for aide and inspiration.

Welcome fellow archon from the maiden worlds! The craft world cousins are much more specialized and tougher. But it's much more fun to play dark aka true Eldar.

We have basically three different branches :
Kabalites. Standard guys with guns.
Witches. Close Combat gladiators, just like the fantasy witches. But they are considered mostly superfluous now.
Coven: mad scientists. Really good Flesh architects.

There is a good book about true Eldar from the black library: path of the dark Eldar.

Thank you! I've associated Craft world eldar with the High elves...there is no coming back from that.

I got my hands on the Codex 2 weeks ago and I've been looking through it and making lists like crazy and painting more in the past 3 days than I have in 3 months.
I'll post some of the lists later on to get some critiques and ideas.

What do you plan on building?

I like the Idea of a Kabal centered army.
Archon with and incubi escort in a venom, 2 Raiders full of warriors, a group of blaster born and ravager and Razorwing support.
The coven side of Dark eldar doesn't attract me as much as the Kabal side, but at some point I'd definitely like to add bits.
