| That's why you should keep it cheap. Small cheap units. Multiple Medusa squads for example. | |

Would you still include the Archon for WWP?

| Maybe but I don't think so. The Raider is good enough to get close enough. If I'm desperate, just get out 6 inch and kill it and hope for the best.
I love my archon with grotesquerie and Haemonculus to get the archangel bomb. I crippled imperial guard with that!

| Yeah it is a bit expensive, mine is 230pts not including the HQ you have to take anyway. Thats why I said I don't often take it but when I have and used it this way its totally worth it. It has many advantages over other units (like solo medusae) that nexs and others have brought up. Also Ive never had it "outfoxed" by a rhino or any other transport. Even if all the backfield units are in transports you will get at least 1.5 turns of shooting to open at least 1 transport so this unit can do its thing. | |

Archangel Bomb? - Painjunky wrote:

I get that you get 1-2 turns of shooting, but what about your opponent's other vehicles? I'm presuming that they have stuff a lot more threatening than a Rhino on the backfield, and probably most of it will be higher on the target-priority list.

| Grotesquerie -1 Ld Armour of Misery -2 Ld Archangel of Pain -2 Ld
Drop in with those guys in a Raider and you can kill or cripple anything that isn't fearless or a space marine.

Armour of Misery -2 Ld Archangel of Pain -2 Ld Am I right in presuming then that the Haemonculus isn't the one from the Grot formation? - CptMetal wrote:

| There is ancestral tales about a time, long before the Fall, when there was a very special kind of unit walking the battlefield. Units that could walk, think and even... feel fear | |

| In my meta, there aren't fearless and ATSKNF only. So I'm good. One Khorne and one Space Marines. And even those can be killed with psychic shriek. Did work great!
And yes, in the archangel bomb, that's not the formation Haemonculus. If you use that stuff, don't forget to buy Phantasm weaponry too.

| Sslyth are pretty underrated love using them. The main decision for me is sslyth court vs grots formation, just depending what in after. Sslyth reliably threaten fmc's and make a great compulsory hq choice even in competitive lists for less obvious reasons. | |

I have never been in a situation where there is not at least 1 unit of infantry somewhere in or near enemy dep zone by turn 2-3 and that's all I need.

Drop in with those guys in a Raider and you can kill or cripple anything that isn't fearless or a space marine. I can attest to the devastating effectiveness of this tactic. If you are struggling against Eldar, particularly Eldar of the Scatter Bike variety try this out. I used a Cast of Players with Mask of Secrets Shadowseer, Haemie with AoM, and another Haemie with Archangel and WWP in a Raider against Eldar and killed almost 1000 points in one turn. The AoM + Mask + Archangel coupled with the Death Jester's Death is Not Enough rule is as close to a hard counter to Scatter Bikes as DE and Harlequins can get. And then you follow that up with end of phase Leadership checks at -4/-2 depending on range. Any non-Wraith construct unit (or units) is going to be decimated by this one unit, particularly if the Eldar player didn't spread out much.

| For some of your checks, a Wraithfighter will add another -2, and give you access to Psychic Shriek, Dominate, and Terrify. | |

| Jim - what would you say is the easiest way to include a wraithfighter in a dark eldar army? Allied Detachment?
Also, I've read your tacticas, and recently tried just a Heroes Path to devastating effect (outflanking the Shadowseer) - but do you have some sort of fluff justification for bringing something like a wraithfighter? I'm just curious because it seems like something rather far fetched.

| Allied detachment. There's little in the Eldar FA department to compete for the one slot.
Fluffwise? In a word: racism. If a small Eldar army is being exterminated by some filthy apes in power armor, the larger Dark Eldar forces would rather fight back to back with their limp-noodle cousins than let some stinking lower primate think they can lay a finger on a member of the Eldar species and live to tell about it. (And the same goes in the opposite direction.)
That's for generic armies. My own forces have a much more convoluted backstory, that I sum up in the 'What's your Story?' thread in the Discussion sub forum.

| Hmmm I liked the model anyway, and aircraft in general... and that general piece of fluff makes a ton of sense (unless you're playing other Eldar I guess). Thanks!
I'll also check out your backstory!
