| I came up with the idea in another thread. What's your story? What codices do you use and what's the story of your army? | |

| Is this more of a "Background" thing than a "General Discussion" thing?
Whatever.
My backstory is based around a complex Triumvirate, whose members are- - A Dracon who stabbed his former Archon in the back (93 times) in order to take over a smallish Kabal based near Null City - A Sorcerer currently in the employ of an Iron Warriors Warband (which he is slowly turning to Tzeentch), annd that also has links to a sizable Renegade/Heretic force (with lots of tanks) - An Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, who is so far gone down the path of corruption he should be shot. He also has some handy connections to various Xenos mercs.
So through a long and convoluted chain of shady connections and deals, all mixed in the smelting pot of Sec Maegra, these (incredibly) unlikely allies came together.
Meetings between the three leaders do tend to be pretty stressful though. And catering for them is a nightmare.....

| Maybe you're right. That could be be background, too. I was asking for the point of justification for allies regarding the comment of one citizen that players get creative to justify allies.
My Kabal is fleet based around Kerberos, a leader that makes massive use of soul transfer to gain a new body if the old one withered away or injured. The elite troops also gain the power to do so.
My Kabal consists of former dark Eldar slaves and I only recruit such outcasts by buying them in the dark city. So we naturally take in other renegades that want freedom but stay away from Commorragh and its petty politics. And because our crew isn't subject to Commorragh law, we also don't suppress our psychic abilities. That's why I add in a Farseer and a minimum squad of Jetbikes. But Rangers would be a nice idea, too. The Kabal also employs one Rouge Haemonculus that turnes captured lesser races into grotesques and who enjoys to experiment with them.

| My army is a combination of several disparate elements. Each group is listed with name underlined, followed by their tabletop faction in parentheses.
Prophets of Flesh (Haemonculus Covens): Unbeknownst to most, Urien Rakarth is an Ynnead cultist. He believes, like Eldrad and others, that when enough Eldar dead are collected in the Infinity Circuits (or trapped within the Webway) that their collective consciousness will give birth to a new deity of the dead, who will destroy Slaanesh. The difference is that Rakarth intends to fill the power vacuum left by Slaanesh's defeat, becoming the Eldar god of pain and suffering.
My Covens units are composed of Rakarth, the few hand-picked subordinates who know part of his plans, and the forces loyal to them.
Kabal of the Bladed Lotus (Dark Eldar): One of the major kabals of the Dark City, the Bladed Lotus is large enough to host more than one Archon. Archon Naeddre is a rising star within the kabal, the trueborn child of the primary Archon's mistress (although there is suspicion that he is not the child of the Archon). Having amassed a small amount of wealth manufacturing highly sought jetbikes and skyboards, his personal forces now represent a potent military asset. Recognizing the value of being a subordinate to a much more powerful figure, Naeddre is a willing co-conspirator with Rakarth, the perfect catspaw because of his (relatively) low position in Commorragh society.
The Ophidienne Labyrinth (Dark Eldar): The Ophidienne Labyrinth is one of the poorer wych cults in Commorragh. Although the cult prides itself on its modular maze of death (from which the organization takes its name), its sky arena is the only thing keeping the cult in operation. Since they are so impoverished, the cult has been forced to sell its services to the various gangs of Commorragh. In exchange for help combating their rivals, the Labyrinth can call on any number of Scourge or Hellion gangs to participate in their bouts, slaughtering captives for the masses (and keeping the Labyrinth open).
Archon Naeddre provides the Labyrinth with jetbikes and skyboards of his own manufacture, in exchange for privileged treatment for his private forces, and accompaniment on his realspace raids. He also pays for the elite of the Labyrinth to be resurrected by the Prophets, if needed (in actuality a service provided by Rakarth in order to bind the wych cult to their alliance).
The three Succubi leaders are a skyboarder (Countess Corvetta), a Succubus on foot (Kisthene), and a Reaver (the Banshee Queen, represented by an Eldar Autarch with a banshee mask).
The Nixen and the Magpies (Dark Eldar): Two independent gangs of Scourges. Both with strong ties to the Ophidienne Labyrinth and Archon Naeddre's branch of the Bladed Lotus.
Soaring Spite (Harlequins): The Harlequin troupe focused on aerial battles, the Soaring Spite always finds a welcome distraction in the arenas of the Ophidienne Labyrinth. They have made it clear that they are aware of all aspects of the alliance. Although Urien Rakarth is disturbed by the degree to which they are informed, he is content to let the mystery lie so long as they continue to work in concert with his interests. They often accompany the other factions on their raids, many times without being asked, or even being informed a raid will occur.
Prince Luthais (Eldar Corsairs): Although the Corsair Prince Luthais suffered extreme losses in combat with ork forces, she still commands a great deal of respect from the loyal eldar under her command. She sought aid from Archon Naeddre, in exchange revealing a truth long hidden from him: the identity of his father, Duke Traevelliath Sliscus, the same as her own. With the aid of the Archon, she has been able to slowly rebuild her forces, and is more than willing to aid the various elements of the alliance. Her neutrality from other Eldar factions allows her to negotiate with almost any group within the race, a facet Rakarth and Naeddre find most appealing. She is an ally of convenience with the most of the dark alliance; her only true loyalty is to her half-brother.
Craftworld Lasairhiona (Craftworld Eldar): During the dark days of the fall, most craftworlds did not escape the shockwave of Slaanesh's birth, and were instead sucked into the Eye of Terror. Lasairhiona very nearly suffered that fate, instead taking heavy damage and nearly total casualties as the shockwave overtook them. They were caught in the furthest edge, however, and managed to break free, not before nearly a third of their number died from psychic trauma. A further third were transformed into hideous daemonic servants of She Who Thirsts, immediately turning on their former kinsmen.
By the time all was said and done, Lasairhiona was a shell of its former self, with too much damage and too small of a remaining population to truly survive on its own in the void. The lived a degrading pauper's existence for a great deal of time, hiding in stellar nebulae and avoiding any conflict, no matter how small.
The Serpent, Duke Sliscus, eventually came to the craftworld's rescue. He and his fleet assisted them in traveling to the safety of a distant star system, where the Craftworld was able to take up orbit around the Maiden World of Fiadhnait. First the Duke, then later his daughter (or so she claims) Luthais kept Lasairhiona supplied with the materials they could not create themselves, even defending them from outside threats.
The leaders of Lasairhiona bridle at having to work with arrogant upstarts like Luthais, or worse yet the very monsters who brought about the downfall of their species, but they have little choice. Even with the support of the exodites below them, the craftworlders have only a fraction of the strength of the True Kin in the alliance.
Fiadhnait (Craftworld Eldar): The exodites of Fiadhnait have suffered incursions from alien species for as long as they can remember. Only when the corsair fleet of Duke Sliscus arrived were they able to drive the orks who had been their primary enemy from their system. So when the Serpent brought a crippled craftworld to them for shelter, the exodites could hardly refuse.
They rarely accompany members of the alliance beyond the boundaries of their world, although a few groups of young and foolhardy eldar have left to see more of the galaxy. They instead provide a safe harbor for alliance members to retreat to. Many pursuing forces have made planetfall, their scans concluding that the minimal levels of technology on the planet must equate to virtually no hostile presence. They inevitably learn different when they are overrun by primitive eldar swarms.
The exodites of Fiadhnait are adept at using fear as a weapon. They sow terror wherever they go, and prefer to let one or two enemies flee on occasion, in order to let their reputation grow. The orks, chaos bands, and rogue traders have all, for the most part, learned the message: to tread on Fiadhnait is to invite death.
My exodites are counts-as CWE, using Wood Elves models.

| Wow jimsolo, simply wow. You have obviously put in some work to that back story. I have always considered myself somewhat more of fluff and tactics fan as opposed to painting and modeling, however I'm not quite sure where I fit now. My painting and modeling is average at best, and my fluff, now that I see a lagit back story, is now average. Again, awesome story.
Well mine is quite simple: The Kabal of the Regal Hunters began as a single Archon's quest to prove he was the best. Archon Nariak simply wanted to fight, anyone, of any race, at anytime, and claim their life, to simply prove his abilities. He is unmatched, challenging anyone who dare say they are a better warrior. It's not about capturing souls as much as it is plain arrogance. As his fights became battles, he needed to recruit. The Kabal of the Regal Hunters began and has since been the outcasts of commorragh. The recruiting focuses more on hand to hand units such as incubi, wyches, and sslyth. Death by blade is much more satisfying than shooting. This Kabal hunts and kills their enemy for sport, always looking for bigger and better challenges. They kill for no other reason but for fun. There is never a mission, never an objective, only sport.
And that's all I got. I gear most of my army for CC, and when there are objectives in game, my army plays it as bait for the enemy so I can counter attack those units.

| The Kabal of the Sterling Claw
Formerly known as the Noble House Vijun, the Kabal of the Sterling Claw was founded in the aftermath of Asrubael Vect's revolution by one of his vasals named Kirac.
In the past, House Vijun controled a large army of halfborn slave soldiers at the command of its noble members. Kirac, the slave army's most talented and long-living Sybarite, was very displeased with these circumstances. He and his soldiers risked their lives day after day, for the safety, the honor and often just the amusement of decadent fops, most of which would never consider setting foot on a battlefield or even taking a weapon into their own hands. When one of Vect's agents approached Kirac with a plan to overthrow Commorragh's aristocracy, he accepted gladly. Following the fall of the three major houses Xelian, Kraillach and Yllithian, Vijun was amongst the first trying to use the power vacuum to their advantage, sending its army against both the Kabal of the Black Heart and rival houses. As Kirac delivered false reports from the bloodstained streets, Lord Vijun and his Trueborn didn't suspect that he and the rest of the slave soldiers were in fact fighting for Vect, not against him, so great was their ignorance and reliance on their slaves. The realization came too late, as Kirac was granted the honor to report to Lord Kirac himself. The trusted Sybarith's message consisted of a sword through his careless master's chest, followed by a declaration of his true loyalty. At the same time, all of House Vijun's Trueborn were taken prisoner by their own guards.
While his former masters had considered him worthy of little more than their glancing looks and empty words, Asrubael Vect rewarded Kirac for his loyalty with command over all of House Vijun's resources and members. But the newly crowned Archon had little interest in wealth. And instead of taking gruesome revenge on the weak nobles he dispised so much, only to then take up their decadent lifestyle, Kirac stayed true to his roots: He was an officer who leads from the front, not a weakling who would take credit for victories while really only hiding behind his subordinates. A leader of soldiers, and a soldier himself; that was what he had always been and what he chose to remain. Instead of executing or enslaving the Trueborn of the former House Vijun, Kirac decided upon a more original and, for him, more statisfying fate: He forced them to undergo the same hard drill as his specialist troops. For milleniae they had prouded themselves with the victories of their servants. Now they would have to prove their own worth, or die trying. The surviving Trueborn would become elite soldiers, earning their right to be proud of their forces' victories by contributing greatly to them. Aside from this, he changed surprisingly little about the established structures as House Vijun was converted into the Kabal of the Sterling Claw.
The Kabal's name derives from an artifact Kirac had taken as a trophy after murdering the house's leader: A shining silver gauntlet made by a Jokaero slave for Lord Vijun - who had him executed right afterwards, to prevent anyone else in Commorragh from obtaining a similar item. The Sterling Claw is not only a priceless work of art, but also a digital weapon. Having splinter weapons built into its fingertips and even a miniaturized darklight blaster in its palm, it allows its wearer to literally kill with a mere gesture. The Sterling Claw would became a hierloom of the Kabal, unwillingly passed down from one Archon to the next.
Archon Kirac also laid the foundation of the Sterling Claw as professional and highly disciplined military organization. Durring the roughly 6000 years of his rule, his Kabal fought war after war, either at Vect's orders or for their own purposes. And when they were not currently at war, they were preparing for it. The Sterling Claw Kabalites built up a reputation for seeking the thrill and glory of battle even more than the spoils of victory. Instead of plundering vulnerable targets, they would demonstrate their superiority by confronting enemy forces directly at any given chance. While they are generally not above looting and taking prisoners durring combat, they would not consider their work done as long as there was anything left to fight. Retreat was an option only after the battle was won, or if there was no chance to win.
Kirac eventually met his end when he lead an attack on what he thought to be an Imperial world caught in a civil war. Where he expected to fight only PDF and disorganized rebels, he soon found out that the latter were only supporting alien invaders who refered to themselves as the "Greater Good". This was not nearly a reason for Kirac to cancel his attack though, and he decided to take on this new enemy, certain that a race using badly equipped Mon'keigh as a spearhead could not possibly stand a chance against his Kabal. His overconfidence proved to be his downfall, as the hit of a Fusion Blaster left not enough of his body to regenerate. His army held out for about an hour longer, but were ultimately forced to retreat. Back in Commorragh, after a brief power struggle and a series of assassinations, one of his Dracons assumed Kirac's position.
The later Archons held on to the military traditions of the Sterling Claw, but returned the Trueborn to their default elite status. They are still trained to be elite soldiers, but predestined to become officers and are given the chance to earn access to luxuries, while Halfborn can only achive the rank of Sybarite at best and have to live rather Spartan lives. This comes mostly from the fact that all Archons of the Sterling Claw after Kirac were Trueborn.
This once powerful Kabal eventually found themselves exiled from Commorragh, mostly just for having chosen a wrong ally. Then-Archon Zevias refused to accept his exile though and sought a way to earn a pardon from Asrubael Vect, unlikely as it mayd be, and he believed to have found his chance on the large green moon Gyal-Akhur, an Exodite world. His plan was to offer its entire population and wealth as a tribute and proof of his loyalty to Vect.
Early durring the Sterling Claw's invasion, a young Dracon by the name of Yanos Kourael made the catch that would change not only his fate, but that of all Eldar on Gyal-Akhur: An Exodite shamaness called Shemia Diredream. She offered her captor to serve him not just as a slave, but also as a seer, and promissed him a lasting rise to great power if he'd follow her precognitions. Yanos, being both an excentric and very careful individual, could not resist the outlook of knowing his enemies' every step in advance, and Shemia knew that. She was confident that she could guide him to make favourable decisions not only for himself, but also for her and her people. Together, Shemia and Yanos managed to keep her powers secret from the rest of the Kabal while preparing for a perfect coup against Archon Zevias. The only one they couldn't fool was the Haemonculix Haruja, whose artifical pseudo-psychic senses defied Shemea's attempts at manipulating her, but Yanos had his own ways of getting her to support his cause. Eventually, they managed to lead Zevias into an ambush. Yanos assumed a dangerous position front and center, while his Archon would get to lead a seemingly safe attack on the Exodites' flank. Nobody could have forseen that this manuver would not lead to a hard blow on the enemy and a following victory, but instead to Zevias's death at the hand of a Ranger squad - except for Shemia of course. Haruja then got to make the final step, by causing the Archon's regeneration chamber to have an unfortunate malfunction.
As soon as Yanos had taken control over the Sterling Claw, he ordered to halt the invasion and his flag ship to land on Gyal-Akhur's surface. Being concerned with maintaining what power he had before trying to accumulate more, and knowing full well that Vect would never even think about forgiving his Kabal, the young Archon choose to settle down on the green moon. With no other Kabals around to rival the Sterling Claw, he thought of his exile as the perfect opportunity to create his own kingdom in real space. In order save his limited resources, Yanos negociated a ceasefire with the Exodites and even let a select few prisoners go, while keeping others as "diplomatic trump cards". That way he would keep his closest enemies at bay without risking significant losses on his side, while his small pirate fleet would raid other planets for slaves and resources. Needless to say, Yanos's habit of playing it safe made him quite a few enemies amongst his very militaristic Kabal. And while he is an excelent strategist, deciever and fighter, and nowhere near as soft and insecure as he (purposely) appears to his enemies, the harsh truth is that what really ensures him staying in power is the psychic slave girl by his side, who might very well have an agenda of her own.
The Coven of the Disected Mind
Sometimes also refered to as the Disectors of the Mind, this Coven was founded by former members of the Hex, who became more interested in the scientific rather than the artistic aspect of their dark practics, specifically about the workings of their victims' minds. As they are obsessed with analyzing and manipulating thoughts and emotions, the Haemonculi of the Disected Mind are masters of psychological torture and warfare. The best of them are able to break even the bravest warriors without laying a finger on them. Their arsenal reaches from halucinogenic gas to ultrasound emitter and electromagnetic neuro-stimulators, and their weapons and flesh creatures are designed to look as horrifying as possible. The Coven's leader, Haemonculus Elder Ctyon the Twisted, eventually turned his interest towards a field that all but the most insane Haemonculi would normaly shy away from: Psionics. Specifically; Ctyon became interested in the way telepaths could manipulate the minds of others, and tried to find a way to replicate their powers technologically, without the need to expose one's soul to the Warp. Much to his and his Coven's misfortune though, Lord Asrubael Vect found out about Ctyon's project, and was not willing to differentiate between his research and the use of actual psychic powers. If anything, this attempt to loophole through his law angered the ruler of Commorragh on a personal level. He declared that the Coven of the Disected Mind, as well as every organization involved with them, was guilty of endangering Commorragh's very existence and had to be annihilated. However, due to the fortunate circumstance of just having left the Dark City for a raid, most of the Coven and its closest allies, the Cabal of the Sterling Claw and the Wych Cult of the True Blade, managed to escape Vect's wrath, if narrowly. Archon Zevias of the Sterling Claw ordered his crew to fly their ship through a damaged Webway tunnel, where their chasers did not dare following them.
The exiled Coven is currently led by Ctyon's "daughter", the excentric (i.e. unusually modest) Haemonculix Haruja, while he spends his time studying in reclusion. She is also responsible for the regeneration chambers on board the Sterling Claw's flagship. Word is that she helped Yanos Kourael to overthrow Zevias in exchange for a number of Exodite seers.
The Cult of the True Blade
"Tell me, which is the one true blade?" So goes a riddle Hekatrii often ask aspiring Wyches to test their competence. The correct answer is that there is no such thing as "one true blade", as every functional weapon is equally "true" for the purpose of fighting and killing. It is a metaphor for the advantage of flexibility in regards to one's fighting style: Everything goes, as long as it leads to victory. The Cult of the True Blade lives this philosophy like few others. Instead of specializing in one signature fighting style, the cult encourages its members to be creative and to try and master ever new techniques. Both in the arena and on the battlefield, True Blade Wyches are unpredictable and full of deadly surprises. Wyches with similar fighting styles tend to form teams, to practice while measuring their skills on those of their fellow members. Some teams built themselves around a Hecatrix with a particulary fascinating fighting style, which the other members seek to learn from. There are teams who favour certain kinds of weapons, specialize in certain combat drugs, or even prefer fighting alongside certain beasts.
The Cult of the True Blade is a long-time ally of the Kabal of the Sterling Claw, and by that extent to the Coven of the Disected Mind, who proved to be very useful by supplying combat drugs and resurrecting fallen crowd favourites. However, when Asrubael Vect learned through a spy that the Disected Mind was experimenting with "artificial psykers", the True Blade was found guilty by association and only narrowly escaped the Overlord's wrath.
The Cult's main purpose on their new homeworld of Gyal-Akhur is to entertain the Kabalites in between off-planet raids, as well as fighting alongside the raiding parties whenever needed. Notably, some of the Wyches have taken a liking to Gyal-Akhur's dangerous wildlife and adapted the Exodites' way of taming and riding the mighty beasts into battle.

How they raid slaves and get away with it is a different question. They can still travel the Webway, but won't dare to go anywhere near Commorragh. And since they don't have a lot of bodies to throw away, they need to pick their targets very carefully.

| Well my story has its complexities but I want to make it short...that was a lot of reading. Lol. Great stories tho! The Kabal of the BlackSands Lead by Archon Kelithresh. Kelithresh plotted against Vect for as long as he could remember trying to not let him find out his ways. Trying to throw Vect from the throne by any means necessary but Vect being smart cunning and ruthless, he knew he would have to always be two steps ahead of him. However, Vect found out Kelithresh's plans, and since Kelithresh could nearly rival Vects amazing powers decided to banish him secretly by presenting him a gift. Kelithresh accepted without thinking twice...being naive and assuming there was no way Vect and found him out. Only to be banished into the abyss by a black hole. Kelithresh know has his own Kabal and recruits more and more Kabals, Cults, Covens, and Harlequins that he can as he finds his way back to Commaragh where an ultimate battle for supremecy awaits! That's the basics of my story. | |

| I've always thought a good "protagonist" needs weakness. An adversity to overcome. So I've decided my Kabal of Khaine worshippers have decided that feeding off torture is for those degenerates who seek survival. True kin and children of Khaine feed only on the finest meat. Thus the Kabal prefers only to feed themselves on the killing blow. The moment the soul flees its failing corpse. Thus they are ruthless killers, peerless fighters, but always one slip from the edge. Since they are ever in need of the kill they are forever weakened. A problem compounded by their Archons disdain for the politics of high commoragh. Their downfall is their salvation however as their near constant raids lead to much material wealth and prestige; the former which burns quickly to feed their rare appetites. As children of Khaine they make no distinction amongst the kin, knowing the blood of their lord flows in all veins. Craftworld, exodite, corsair, even the followers of the laughing god. Thus they go to war with any who will spill blood in the name of Khaine. That they might show the galaxy again what it means to be Eldar.
In game that translates to me almost never taking a list that does not include my inefficient melee archon lol. Though I supplement my handicap with all eldar. Even exodites (raptor riders that are sometimes reavers and sometimes shining Spears)

| Initially I thought "Kabal of Generic Sadism" about covered it, but having free time of late has changed my views.
Kabal of the Cynicist's Sect, led by an Archon without an identity, and who in fact lives in perpetual fear of discovering one. Aspiring would-be-leaders are easily preyed upon by the upper city and their own foot soldiers. Without the support of powerful Kabals such as the Black Heart, our antagonist realised that having a name was increasingly a liability.
Permanently concealed in dull, standard kabalite armour, the Archon is known for being particularly skeptic and paranoid behaviour, and is a self confessed pessimist. These traits are adopted by all lesser members of the posse.
Kabalites in the Cynicist's Sect distinguish themselves from other Kabals in their complete dismissal of the Dark Eldar's history. How could the magnificent, perfect beings that comprise the Eldar race, possibly birth their own doom? It is merely a fable. In truth, they dismiss almost anything uttered out of another Eldar's mouth, including amongst themselves. Most plans to invade planets and attend realspace raids are disregarded as barefaced lies by most Dracons. Additionally, most Dracons are heavily scrutinised, and many are not believed to actually be Dracons after all.
The Cynicist's Sect actively consorts with agents of Chaos for narcotics, alien weaponry, slaves and information, though seldom believe much of they're told. They don grim, grey armour, without symbols, flags and certainly no motto. Most members tend to eschew common table manner etiquette. Personal hygiene is generally optional.
There were once rumours among members of the Sect of the Kabal actually amounting to something, but it was quickly brushed off as a complete fabrication.

Always loved the idea of Eldar corsairs of the RT days, so it went from "Corsairs using CWE" to "Corsairs using DE" and finally Corsairs have a solid, flexible armylist of their own. Been toying with the idea of representing venom weapons with electricity, so the venom blade is a shock rod, like the ones in Metal Gear Lore wise these corsairs of mine avoid conflict with other Eldar (the galaxy is a big enough place to pick fights with someone not your own), cooperating with craftworld and kabal forces at time against xenos threats.

| The Kabal of Shackled Steel, a group of individuals so paranoid they would probably be totally unable to function if they didn't find comfort in the fact that those around them are equally paranoid. When one is so afraid of something, be it another eldar, a kabal, a daemon, or even an abstract concept; they run off and join the Shackled Steel.
Due to their massive fear of outsiders, they have spies in every location possible, they still don't trust these spies, yet the information they provide makes them worthy; they pry rumor from every corner of the webway, and what they see is the cautious hands of Vect and Rarkarth, meticulously building intricate plans of retreat from Khaine's gate, and so they have already begun to prepare for coming fire, to provide them with the most powerful hand in the madness to come.

| My Eldar are a loose, distrustful collection of Craftworld, True Kin and Exodites, with a Harlequin Troupe pulling the strings to keep them together for some greater and mysterious purpose.
Craftworld Angvellaith The early days of craftworld Angvellaith were unremarkable. Leaving sometime during the middle of great exodus from the eldar homeworlds, it set off into the void alongside dozens and dozens of other craftworlds. For centuries, while others fell, the keen foresight of its seers and the might of its warhosts protected its citizens from the very worst the galaxy could offer. However, all skiens of fate appeared to converge in tragedy for the Angvai. Despite all their efforts, the rotting plague-ships of the Death Guard descended upon their home. Through valient effort and harrowing sacrifice, they repelled the foetid tide. However, like Iyanden, their population was decimated. Listless and broken, they drifted through the void awaiting their death. However, this was not how their story owuld end. Through the webway, a cry for help echoed out from the exodites of Selestini, who likewise were under assault from the followers of the Plaguefather. Throwing what was left of their warhosts into the fray, they managed to turn the tide against the children of Nurgle. This marked a turning point in the attitude of the Angvai. No longer were they content to fade away into obscurity.
In a great council, their eldest and wisest seers developed a radical plan. Through the susserus of their innumerable dead within the infinity matrix, the unborn god Ynnead had made his presence known, and the eldar of Angvellaith welcomed him. They struck a dark pact with their Commorite cousins, exchanging safe harbour in realspace and the industrial resources of their craftworld for access to the cloning vats of the Haemonculi. Through arcane and eldritch technomancy, they rebuilt their shattered warhosts.
Their Guardian forces are comprised entirely of cloned conscripts, who follow the unique Path of the Warborn. These forces are thrown against their enemies with no heed to their survival. If a Warborn survives their tour of duty, they are gifted a name and inducted into Craftworld society as a true citizen. If they fall in battle, add one more soul to the chorus.
Exodites of Selesti It was high priests of the temple of Isha that originally called for the exodus of Eldar to the maiden world of Selesti. Their new worlds were built in her honour, and all life upon them flourished. In the centuries following the Fall, the exodites have fallen into technobarbarism, returning to a primal shamanistic culture that would be unrecognisable to their pre-Fall ancestors. However, the beauty of their worlds remained undimmed.
However, the healthy splendour of these worlds was too much for Papa Nurgle to resist, and he unleashed one of his many gifts upon this world. Only by excising the infected tissue and replacing it with wraithbone could the Selestini hold back the inevitable doom of their world.
Their salvation came in the dreams of their seers. Isha, held captive by Nurgle, had heard her children's plight. She whispered the cure to her daughters, and saved their kingdoms. However, the scars of this event are still evident among the Selestini. To this day, any impurity or imperfection in their bodies is replaced with wraithbone, and great forests of petrified trees lie on barren soil. The gifts of the Lord of Decay are generous in their destruction.
Khaine's Ravens (Corsairs) In Eldar myth, the ravens of Morai-Heg were the eyes and ears of the Crone goddess. During the Fall, Morai-Heg bid her ravens to fly with Khaine and peck at the eyes of Slaanesh during their titanic battle. Khaine's Ravens take after these birds of legend, spying on the forces of the Ruinous Powers, and conducting surgical strikes to take out their leaders.
Like Yriel, their Prince Morrathillian claims descent from the House of Ulthanash Raven-Friend. It is after this affectation that he has named his followers.
The Ravens themselves specialise in covert operations, collecting information on their enemies from hundreds of listening posts and cloaked sleeper-ship across the segmentum. Sparsely manned, these posts are vulnerable to attack, but the Ravens' fleet of modified void-ships are never more than a short webway jump away.
Kabal of the Whipcrown The Kabal of the Whipcrown are a relatively young kabal, formed by the former Wych gladiator Khaharkyth. Although their strength is growing rapidly, they are still small fry in relation to the more established kabals of Commorragh. In order to expand their powerbase, and defend themselves from their more predatory rivals they have entered into a pact with the seers of craftworld Angvellaith. In exchange for safe harbour in realspace, support in military endeavours and the foresight of the craftworld's seers, they have provided access to the cloning and resurrection technologies of the Haemonculi. Although each party is wary and distrustful of the other, they have both profited enormously from the deal.
Khaharkyth himself has, to be frank, a screw or two loose. He can often be overheard speaking to the bloodied skull perched on his shoulder, calling it 'Wilson' for reasons unknown. Word on the street is that it's the remains of his first and most beloved pet, a Cadian Sergeant he adopted during his youth in the arenas. His peers often mock him for this between themselves, but his reputation as an utterly brutal fighter, and the nagging suspicion that it's all a front, has so far prevented any of them from attempting to relieve him of his command.
Masque of the Tone Serpent The enigmatic harlequins of the Masque of the Tone Serpent travel the twisted webway skeins between the craftworlds, the exodites and the dark city. It was they who guided craftworld Angvellaith towards the exodite world of Selesti, first employed the listening posts of the Khaine's Ravens, and brokered the first meeting between Khaharkyth of the Whipcrown and the seer council of the Angvai. The ultimate purpose for this tripartite Eldar union is unknown to anyone but the servants of the Trickster God.
