I know anti infantry isn't exactly something the DE lack but has any one had any success in running a 10 man squad of scourges armed bare bones with just splinter carbines?

Just thought it would be a (relatively) cheap fast moving squad with the ability to pump out 30 poison shots, with one of the best armour saves we have.

On a similar note anyone ran them with blasters to deal with TEQ?

Only ever used them in a tank Hunter role but think they might be useful for other things, thoughts.

I've ran them with blaster for better flexibility and rhino hunting. It gone well.

They got grenades and solarite can get venom blade.

Think it is a good unit, although we have better options for doing the same job

At dealing with TEQ? What other units do you recomend? Blaster born? Or do you mean a cc unit?

Good to hear what size squad so you use 5 with 4 blasters?

In a pinch, they also get hammer of wrath if they move(walk) 6 and use the jump to charge.  Like you said though, we we have better options for doing the same job.

For the same 16 points as a Scourge, you can get a Reaver. One less poison shot, but they're even more mobile, much better in assault, and can get a 3+ through Jink. Not to mention +1T.

I wouldn't take Scourge for any reason other than to spam their special weapons. Blasters you can get cheaper through Trueborn too, and you can match the mobility of Scourge and become more survivable if you give them a Nightshield Raider. Venom is an option too if you really want to lay on the anti-infantry - but at that point I'd recommended a unit of 6 Trueborn with 4 Blasters and two Splinter Cannons in a Raider.

I'd only run Scourge with 4 Haywires. Potentially 4 Dark Lances in a ruin or 4 Heat Lances deepstriking but even that doesn't seem like an ideal use.

Always forget about the reavers splinter pistol shot.

I had thought about a 4 lance squad but can't quite come to terms with a stationary 'fast attack' choice.

Why do you recommend the raider over the venom?

Not just the pistol, they have a full splinter rifle mounted on their bikes. One less shot than the carbine but a bit more range, and definitely better than a pistol.

Raider vs Venom is entirely preference. Venom has better guns, but the Raider can get 3+ Jink. Venom is easier to hide behind terrain, but with a Raider you can do that thing where you only expose your front armor while keeping your opponent in your side arc for 2+ or 3+ cover saves without Jink.

I'm partial to expensive units like Trueborn in Raiders and cheaper Warriors in Venoms, but doesn't really mattress.
