| I'm currently in the process of fleshing out army lists for dark eldar and I was wondering what people think is the better option for fliers between void ravens and razorwings in terms of their value/effectiveness? Sorry if this a nooby or obvious question but I'm new to playing the game! | |

| seems like the void raven bomber is way to expensive for what it does but the razorwing jetfighter is fantastic I see a lot of pretty competitive lists take one or two. It's bad against other fliers though so I would keep it anti infantry with it's missiles and maybe a free tank with the dark lances. did you paint those scourges? they look fantastic by the way i'm also fairly new so i'm glad to see more dark kin around | |

| I love the Void Raven's weapons, but I would love them a lot more on a different vehicle. It is powerful, but too squishy to be worth all those points.
The Razorwing is okay, but its name is misleading. It is really more of a fighter-bomber than a jetfighter; great for bombarding infantry with missiles, but if you are looking for a flier to combat enemy fliers, just "borrow" a Crimson Hunter.

| Cheers for the advice; I'll probably go with just 1 razorwing as an anti infantry measure and as at least some presence in the air. Thank you Colej, yes I painted them! I'm thinking of starting up a project log for my army in which they'll feature, so keep an eye out | |

| I love both, for different reasons.
Razorwings for anti troop/horde. I keep the dissintergraters and upgrade to splinter cannon. Thats 6 str 5 ap 2 shots and 6 splinter shots. Then you are adding 4 missiles. If you find a squad of MEQ outside of cover, more times then not, that unit disappears. However they get worse when cover is involved. Keep the stock missiles. Can shoot both dissies, the splinter cannon and a missile per turn, or take the splinter cannon out for 2 turns and shoot 2 missiles with the dissie cannons.
The voidraven, I do love it, but have to admit the points are a bit much. It has turned the game in my favour once. Was one of those games where my rolling was just off and nothing was working, until this guy showed up. Terminators had deep striked in so bunched up. I had the stock guns on str 8 ap2 small blast, with the ap2 missiles on board. That unit was deleted and that was the turning point of the game going into my favour from then on out. It had won me that game so don't write it off too soon.

The model is completely gorgeous and I love the idea of running in and bombing the lesser races. It's a shame our "jetfighter" can't really fight jets and does what our bomber does but much cheaper

| For me the contest between them can't be won on looks, cause they're both fantastic models! But yeah, it sounds like the void raven only really pays off in more specific situations so it might not be as good an investment than the jetfighter

| I have to Razorwing, both with Lances to help me get enough anti tank fire power on the board. I use that do I can have a multi purpose fighter. Tanks? Check. Infantry? Stock missiles. | |

| You sound convinced already but +1 for the razorwing - these are some of the most fragile fliers in the game, as such you want to spend the least amount possible on them. Razorwings can essentially delete a unit with their missiles on arrival, and then act like 2/3rds of a ravager with the lances (the only upgrade I even consider) for the remainder of it's life in the game. Good stuff. | |

| ^^^ it's a good feeling to catch a squad out in the open with your missles. One of the Tau players at the FLGS actually picked up a Tau flier after this happening twice. | |

| I've generally enjoy running my Razorwings. I have two of them in total and will almost always run at least one in every list. It can cause some decent damage to the right targets if they come in at the right time. I don't think they're worth it against some armies though. One of my main opponents plays Plague Marines and the missiles generally do NOTHING to them. Great v. horde, though.
Then I usually just float them around and shoot the double DL's at things (I once finished off a IK with a pen from one before).

| I try and fit 2 in most lists I play, stock missiles with dark lances. I tend to shoot all my missiles when they arrive and then dark lance things after that wether it be a flyer (hopefully getting it to jink) or a tank of some sort. | |

| The only thing I like about the Voidraven is that it disproves the commonly thrown around argument that GW gives new sculpts overpowered rules to make them sell better.
As for the Razorwing - I have 2 and haven't used one in ages. They just never seem to do enough to warrant taking them. The missiles are only good against soft targets, even Space Marines don't care more often than not. And the 2 guns, bah, one misses, the other one doesn't penetrate. No thanks.
