[2000] - CAD (DE) + CAD (Chaos) + Forgehost

I am aiming for a Tzeentch theme, focused on summoning and burning the opponent.

The idea of this list is to summon stuff to toss at the opponent all day. Deploy the Horrors behind the Aegis Defense Line, going to ground for a 2+ cover save with a re-roll thanks to being a daemon of tzeentch, the Herald attached to one of them. And The Daemon Prince to take flight and go around summoning other daemons from the malefic discipline. I am specially aiming to summon Flamers of Tzeentch.

The Dark Eldar offer opportunistic support fire and some counter to melee as needed.

The forgehost deep strikes burns more stuff.

What is the benefit of the forgehost? I don't have that book.

Every time one Soulgrinder from this formation inflicts an enemy causalty during a shooting or assualt phase all other Soulgrinders in the formation can reroll all their to hit and to wound rolls until the end of the phase.

You don't have much in the way of anti-tank. I'd probably switch out 2 of the baleful torrents for the phlegm bombardments for some anti-vehicle ordnance weapons. They're also large blasts with much needed AP3. Gotta free up 15 points though.

Well the previous anti tank was in the form of 2 units of scourges. The soul grinders can and will be deep striking so I am expecting to be able to assault vehicles turn 3. You don't feel that works?

I think you don't give up much for the S8 AP3 large blast templates instead of the torrent flamers, and the S8 AP3 large blast potentially does much more for you. Will your plan work? Sure, maybe, against certain lists. But the S8 AP3 large blasts will work against more things. The way you use it is simple:

You drop all 3 soulgrinders in, use the baleful torrent to put a wound on a squad, and now your large blast templates get to reroll to hit with S8 AP3. The one torrent makes the 2 large blasts more reliable because of the formation special rule.

Where would you cut the points to pay for that upgrade?

Well, you can drop up to two units of Kabalites and simply take some of your venoms as fast attack choices. Perhaps cut one unit of Kabalites and find space for your remaining 25pts.

Otherwise, yes I do like the list, and also thoroughly encourage a pair of S8 Ap3 pieplates. The synergy with their special rule does seem far too good to pass up for a platform with that kind of weapon.

They're ordnance too, so it's 2d6 pick the highest for penetration rolls, with possible rerolls depending on how the formation rule is worded.
