Hello everyone!
I've finally decided to jump back into Warhammer 40,000, and after a few false starts, I've settled on collecting an army of Dark Eldar. I simply love the models, and painting them represents a new challenge for me in terms of my hobby skills.
I'm a fairly casual gamer, and a big painter and modeler, but I want to do my homework to be able to play this army right. I realize there is a lot of negativity surrounding Dark Eldar and the newest edition of the codex right now, but I've been involved in this hobby for a long time, and I've found that it's generally best to simply forge your own path - I played Chaos for years being told my codex was bad, or units were underpowered, and so on. I still enjoyed playing them, and I won game or two as well!
I've been watching some videos, and while Dark Eldar are certainly difficult different to play in comparison to power-armored armies, I feel like they can definitely be viable as a stand-alone army, even in an era of allies and detachments. Now I might be wrong, but I hope to have some good tactical discussions at any rate.
This is a fantastic forum you have here, BTW. I might need to buy a T-shirt if they are still available!
