| I stole this guys ideas. They work reasonably well for generic pale skin. pale skin
He also has an article on dark eldar if you want to go for more of a space drow look. dark eldar skin
As for wings, my best advice is to do a google image search for "blue bird wings", and see what you like. If you are open for non blue options as well, maybe "tropical bird wings".

| Too thick paint, mate, way to think. Thin it with water or dilutant. Make a wet pallet and you will always have thin paint. | |

| I just got a box of scourges in the mail today and it inspired me to start painting again. I've finished up the first group of kabalites and got my archon's base painted. The Archon of the Broken Skulls will be done soon and hopefully 5 scourges as soon as i find the bits i'm missing to finish them up. For now here is a look at the warriors and a teaser of the unpainted Arcon/Lhamea/Succubus of the Broken Skulls. Cheers and thanks for the feedback.

Doing even this small set of units taught me allot about painting and I think i've progressed a little in my brushwork.

| Just a small update. I've settled on a color scheme for the scourges i'm working on. I've only got the body of one painted so far as i do everything in stages but this is what they will look like. (included one shot next to the kabalites so you can see the difference)

| Not sure if anyone is still following or reading this but here are the basically finished versions of two scourges.

| Again - too thick paint. Thin it mate. 2 thin layers is better then one thick. You can also try edge highlighting technique - do it with the side of the brush, rather then point. | |

I think hell's about to freeze over from me saying this but I agree too. It was the only one I cared for out of the ones I saw.

| I quite like the scourges. I notice a bit of shakiness with the highlighting. Don't worry that'll go then it'll be like second nature to you. | |

| Seeing the grey plastic basepieces of your Scourges makes me wonder: Do you prime your models prior to painting them? If not, that could explain some problems, and if you do, you don't seem to use a spray, which you should, it's easier and superior to the primer from the pot, which is too thick.
Also i would not use green at all as i think it doesn't fit well with your cool ice blue armor. But that is just my opinion.

| I think most people here would agree that priming is a MUST, it is easily done: Just stick a bunch of your minis to a piece of carton with double sided sticky tape or somesuch. Go outside. Spray it. I used GWs primer spray, it's okay, i heard don't use spray under extreme weather. Benefit: The base colour will adhere to your mini MUCH better. You can use even thinner paint without it running down your model. | |

| Yeah prime them for sure! I use just the hardware store (ACE Hardware where I am at) flat black or flat white - it only runs about $5 a spray can.
Really like the colors you have going! I typically will base coat darker knowing that I will bring the color up lighter in the next steps...
I don't know what the darker base color is you have but the bright blue looks like Lothern Blue? I would base coat with the dark color you have going, then a wash - maybe a black wash or blue wash depending on the look you want... then using that same Lothern blue make a mix so it's maybe 70% white 30% of the blue and dry brush that...
Dry brushing will get all the sharp edges on the armor to pickup and you won't really need to take the fine brush to each edge. Then you could add a few just small highlights to a few edges.
Look forward to seeing more models here!

| I just finished my second set of kabalites. Ill post pics tomorrow. Im definetly going to try drybrushing on the next 5 i do. Picking out the edges on all of them takes a while but think i did a much better job on the five i did tonight.
Ive got a raider, reaver, 6 talos, one cronos, 5 kabalites, two haemonculous, and a succubus left to paint.
