Hey all! Dr. Bored here!
I've been into 40k for about... I'm not really sure. I got into it just as 5th edition was coming out, and for the first long while I did nothing but collect and paint Chaos Space Marines (had my eye on a Tzeentch army before I learned the sad truth about their effectiveness, so switched to Slaanesh). I have roughly 5000 points of Chaos Marines, Chaos Daemons, and Renegade Guard if you don't count the Renegade Baneblade. I even tried to dabble in Tau, but have since sold them, they just weren't evil enough!
When the new Dark Eldar were launched, I got hooked. The models were beautiful and the playstyle was fresh and new, less of the 3+ armor saves and str 4 bolters all over the place. New weapons, new rules, new models, and they were as evil and depraved as you got! After all, they're responsible for Slaanesh being born in the first place, no?
I have about 2000 points of Dark Eldar now, but as the new models come out that will surely be growing. I particularly like Reaver Jetbikes, Razorwing Jetfighters, Venoms, and Warriors. The Kabal I'm designing is aquatic-based, with a blue/black color scheme with orange highlights. I haven't settled on a name, but I'm sure I'll decide on something eventually.
My win/loss ratio for Dark Eldar is pretty solid, around 1:1, with almost 40 games under my belt. I've learned a lot about 40k in general, and about how the Dark Eldar work. I'm quite pleased with the Codex, as I believe there are a lot of options that are highly viable, and will continue to be viable as Codex creep continues on into the future. Dark Eldar are so varied and have such wild weapons that I think the longer they go the higher they'll get. They're so fast and so deadly that Monstrous Creatures, IC's, and other backbone units of other armies don't stand a chance, and once they're done it's just a matter of mopping up the rest.
Anyway, hope to collaborate with my fellow Archons for the glory of Commorragh now and into the dark future!
