newb list

Hi! I'm new to 40k and DE is my first army. My main opponent is tau and his brother is starting necrons. The tau player has agreed to take it easy on me, but is still taking a riptide and ghostkeel. I want to keep a fluffy list but be semi competitive as well.

I currently have: 3 venoms and 3 units of 5 warriors with blaster and sybarite with HWG. Current list plan is:

Real space raiders detachment(am also toying with a dual CAD)
HQ: kept replacing lamean with shaman so... lamean 10pts

ELITES: 310 pts
3 incubi, venom (all venoms have dual SC)
3 incubi, venom
5 mandrakes

TROOPS: 535 pts
5 kabalites w/blaster, hwg sybarite 135 pts
three of the kabalite units
5 wyches w/ hwg hekatrix 130 pts

FAST ATTACK
razoring jet fighter wing- 2 razor wings (both have dual dl's tl rifles and monosythe)
3 reavers w/blaster and CC
with 3 of those reaver units.
5 scourge with 4 haywire blasters

HEAVY SUPPORT
three triple DL ravagers.

suggestions welcome! should I take the dual CAD? do I have enough AT? and I know lychees are bad but they are to tie up stuff for the incubi, and they're cool. I can also show you the dual CAD list but its basically the same but with 2 lhameans and without one of the incubi units. It also has an extra ravager but two of the ravagers have dissies. and there is 5 hellions coz they're cool. and only 3 mandrakes.

AND, why don't I see more dual CAD builds? if people love ravagers so much then why not take more?

Well, you are relatively new so I think its best for you to test things out, see what works and doesnt work for you and tailor your lists and following purchases around that, so instead of rewriting you a list ill give you some pointers.

CAD is nice for the OS, but as Dark Eldar our troop choices arent resilient so we cant fully maximize its use, so most people use realspace raiders to get 6 FA choices, our most stacked slot.

As Dark Eldar go, our long range AT choices are overprized and fragile. Most people tend to run their AT in close combat with grotesques, reaver jetbikes and Talos and their AI long range (venoms mostly).

When fielding razorwing jetfighters take into consideration that when shooting ground targets you get -1 to your BS. Judge by yourself, but I dont think dark lances are a good upgrade on them.

oh! thats right, because in death to the skies ?fighters? get -1 bs at ground.  But I think I will stick with the DL because otherwise i will have no AA.

and.... a dual CAD would give you 6 FA slots but would lose the cover save turn 1 thing in exchange for objsec. I guess it's just a matter of what you find more valuable (I am aware that you need to have a second HQ for dual CAD, but a 10pt lamaen tax isn't that bad.
