How to counter the psychic phase?

I have no idea how you guys get anything out of him - At T3 and 3++ save, its just 20 bolter shots to put him down on average. Combine that with over watch, then the ensuing combat, a basic marine squad is a threat

I have moments of brilliance, but most often he just dies.

Maybe slaanesh just hates me!

Dont let him get shot at..... if he is in position of 20 bolters you are playing him wrong.

Mine has Never died before i made his Blitz attack.

Edit: Yes he will die 90% the time after he blitz, but thats ok b.c you just used him effectively.

The Lost Shroud on a Solitaire from the Heroes' Path formation means your T3 model will have a 2+ cover save most of the time, 3++ save, 5+ FNP and IWND.

It's a shame they didn't think about adding the Mantle of the Laughing God from the 6e Eldar codex as a relic in the Harlequins codex that would seem perfect for Harlequins.

I wish it was that easy... 20 bolter shots is a single 10 man squad... and out of a scouting rhino or drop pod I face all to often, yeah, he just dies. Its nothing about playing him wrong and everything about him being way to squishy.

I don't mind the lost shroud addition to him - but he now closer to 200 points!

With that setup and a 2+ cover save your 20 Bolter shots statistically produce all of 1 wound. 1 wound that will be regenerated on a 5+ if they don't shoot him up some more.

Not exactly the Right Honourable Mr Smashfether, but not bad

That combo is 3 times as effective (2+ cover plus FNP vs a 3++) as the standard save - but requires you to spend over 300 points to get it (min heroes path plus the Shroud).

Getting back on topic though...

Countering psychic phase...

It's not as if the other heroes from the Path are taxes though. They're both pretty useful (one is even useful for countering the psychic phase!).

Something I was thinking, although it's so far from a reliable mechanism that it may not be useful, is that many of the results on the perils chart require a leadership test. By getting enemy psykers into Ld debuff bubbles you can make that worse for them.

Although, it is rare that you peril anyway so probably not much use. Might be worth paying attention to in addition to other tactics though as every little helps

Why would you place him in a spot a scouting rhino can Rabid fire him??? Or a Drop pod targeting him?

Place him not on the line but either in the middle of your army where they cant DS/Drop pod close, or place him to the extreme far end of your army (If you deploy 2nd and your opponenet is DS heavy they wont drop pod for a signal dude if it means no objectives/bad placement of a full unit that cant get to anything for 2 turns.).

Its a 25mm base signal model, easy to hide.
