Corsair Coterie Specializations & the Command Crew

Very simple query here regarding coterie specializations and the IC's in the Command Crew.
If My command crew consists solely of a Baron, and he is held in reserves with a unit of troops from the Sky burners coterie, does that unit still get to re-roll their reserve roll and scatter 1d6?

He can't be allocated to them in the first place due to the barons own rules

Well, then assume It was my Prince in the Command Crew, what happens in that scenario?

The rules for coteries specify the rules affect models in the coterie - which means if you add the prince from the command coterie, the unit no longer is composed of models solely from the coterie and the benefit would not work.
