I will wait and see what the full rules say, both for the game in general and the DE in particular but I have yet to see anything that leads me to believe we're going to be competitive.

Sure, go ahead, keep your baselss pessimism then. But absolutely none of the basic rules we've seen so far a definite nurf to DE, or anybody else for that matter.

Haha, but seriously, back on tppic: I actually find myself in agreement with just about everything The Count has been saying. Furthermore, the changes to cover are NOT helpful to us, and with far less shooting weapon options and the suspected "no armour mods on basic troop guns" thing, I suspect it's going to be far worse for us.

You ever try killing terminators with splinter weapons? Because that is what ALL space marines in cover are now against a weapon with no armour modifier.

Unless we get army wide ignores cover....

Edit: on a more serious note, they might give poison weapons a rule equivalent to aos rending, nulling the cover bonus.

Optimist, Pessimist.. we can only go off what we know.
And from the history of GW's track record with Dark Eldar, i am inclined to be pessimistic with flashes of hope.

So pretty much, i agree with count and betray for the most part. It is not that they are 'eternally Pessimistic", it is that you can only get burned so many times before you realize that the stove is hot.

We can hope for great rules and abilities. I think, however, we are going to be staring vainly at our "Xenos rulebooks" soon, searching for something we must have missed because "there just has to be more than this".

I remember that feeling from our last codex. Don't you?
