| Would be keen to see how you magnetised the lances & nose weapon... i did the missiles on my first RW but am about to build my second and would be keen to see what you did! | |

| I will be interested to see how ESE does it as well. I didn't do the nose weapon, I always want the cannon but I did the missiles and big guns on both my Razorwing and Void Raven thus: For my missiles, I trimmed down the launch rails under the fuselage and recessed a small magnet flush in the hull. I then simply GS'ed another magnet on the top of each missile in the appropriate spot so that they lie flat against the fuselage. Having three fins means that the magnet sits nicely between two of the fins and is not really visible unless you pick up the model and turn it over for a close look. For my guns, I cut off the pegs that insert into the pod on the wings. With the VR, I drilled a hole into the end of each void lance because they were made from spare missile bodies and were big enough to insert a small magnet. For the RW, I simply gs'ed and super-glued a small magnet to the end of each DL and dissie. I recessed another magnet into the receptacle inside each pod. The guns sit far enough back in the pods that the magnets on their ends are not at all visible. They are the same diameter as the butt end of the guns anyway. | |

| Hey ESE just a thought perhaps its time to post a couple of images of the completed painted army so far, perhaps on a game board? Oh and yeah like th others I have the same question how did you magnetise those weapons as I'm building my razorwing soon and would like to know various methods to use and see which is best. | |

I'll be able to post an army shot after school gets out in June and I have more time to actually have my army leave the house I realized that I should've taken pictures of the work that I did to magnetize the weapons BEFORE I glued it together Here are shots of what you can see: I cut just a small bit of the round peg at the back of the DL's and Dissies(about the depth of the magnet) and then just glued the magnet on the end of it. For the nose splinter weapons I drilled a hole on the back side of the weapon that I bored out a bit with a rotary tool. Note: THE NOSE GUN WILL NOT SLIDE IN!!! I have to cut down the top of the block behind the weapon to get it to slide in. Really sucks, but I guess that I wasn't paying attention to how it would fit with the top of the hull in place. I had to bore out the hole that the DL/Dissies plug into to get the magnets to slide in. I secured the other magnet in the hull with glue and green stuff. I had to do a bit of cutting and boring to make room for the magnets, but you don't see any of it from the outside at all. I wish that I had the patience to magnetize the missiles as Gobs did, but I was in a bit of a pinch, and don't really see myself "upgrading" the missiles when making lists. Come to think of it, I just remembered that there is a better tutorial posted on how to do this (that I should have looked at first ) : http://www.thedarkcity.net/t573-razorwing-magnetising-now-painted-too#5234 Hope this helps. I try to take pictures of things that I do so that others can learn from my mistakes/triumphs(?), but clearly I had my head up my rear on this one!

| Not a great shot, but I managed to hammer the little Urghul model tonight. It was primed, I was bored. I wanted to try out some of the new paints. Tried out the Slanesh Grey with a Fortress Grey/ Fortress Grey-Skull White highlight. I did a light final highlight of the new Dry white color (Praxi or something?). Not bad stuff. If I ever get around to finishing that Emperor's Children army...maybe when they get new rules. Anyhoo: Maybe I'll get the motivation to paint a court? | |

| Urghul model looks great, can't remember the last time I got bored and painted anything to completion in one sitting let alone to that standard. The first airbrush highlights look great, the next layer would make me nervous as well, does your airbrush make a thinner line than that? If not I would make your first highlight thicker so you can still show a transition to the final color. Switching to brush will change the texture of the lightest color and may look wierd. OrI don't know what I'm talking about, you finished it already and it looks great. | |

| I need to clean up the highlights a bit and put the teal runes on, but it looks as though I will be able to get it done this weekend. The highlights look overly bright, but the Dullcote and Tamiya Clear really darkens it up. Now if I could only find the time to play a game with it... | |

| Putting aside my barely contained jealousy for your painting abilities for a second I can only say that your stuff looks great, I really like the Ur-Ghul scheme and I look forward to seeing everything your put up here. Keep up the great work | |

| Did you draw on the outlines of the sigils with a pencil? I brought a Razorwing today and wish to try this out. Thank you. | |

Thank you. hey guys, thanks for the complements. @Cavash-I use a 05 Micron pen to draw them on. I think I did a tutorial on this when I painted my Coven Raider. There might be a link in the Painting /Modeling section of tutorial links that Local Ork posted. I would link it here, but I'm on my phone(tiny screen =going blind EDIT:okay, found it! It's about 1/2 way down the page. Didn't want to leave. You hanging. http://www.thedarkcity.net/t1538p40-an-evil-project-log

| My initial thoughts on the jetfighter.
The color is solid and clean looking. The shading needs to be just a touch more pronoumced.
The highloghting is incomplete.
One of the things that will really add some visual impact and emphasize the sharp corners is to add more of the highlight color, as seen on the tips and edges of the prow of the jetfighter, is to ad that same color to all your corners and extend just a little bit beyond it.
Then comeback with a thined white, pure white and just touch the very corner itself, almost like a dot. The idea is to reflect the light on the sharpest, highest point. All of your corners should have this. Do not extend the white beyond the edge corner itself.
On the true corners, or those opposite the sharp edges, do not highlight those with white. Since the edges all point back at one another, the light won't reflect quite the same way.
I like the freehand work, It looks very sharp and edgy.
More later as I have time.

| For an unfinished piece I think it looks really great but than again I'm bad at highlighting. I'd love to know how much time you spent once it's completed. | |
