Good luck! I glued the canopy to my venom before noticing that the targeting reticle is on the inside thus it is not painted :/

You can't make this stuff up-
Woke up at 5:00, got out of bed, walked by the painting desk......CRUNCH
I am a special brand of stupid.
Must have fallen/gotten bumped off the desk at some point. Yay for Ebay?

You can mask the "glass" with liquid mask and paint it, remove the mask and (if you want) give a wash of ink to the glass (maybe green ink) so you can mask the fracture O.o

To be honest, I'm just going to replace it. Did get some work in on my wracks and Haemi, including all the shots I needed for an upcoming magnetizing tutorial:
The Haemi has the option of running an Agonizer or Scisorhand. The Acothyst has the options of running...EVERYTHING (pretty much) Lots of fun. Paint on their flesh started tonight

oh man I'll go nuts if I break the canopy, on all my long carreer it happened only once so far, I'm crazy careful with those canopies.
The Voidraven is ushc an awesome model, glad you didn't glue the guns on, they fit in nicely without magnets, the mine the same, no need to glue or magnets, the missiles however I magnetised mine, I can put any of the 2 types or simple use no missiles at all, I find the little missile thing awesome looking on the flyer.

Really bad luck with the canopy, mate!
Looking forward to the magnetizing tutorial. I have done plenty of models, but not an individual 25mm figure .... yet. Not sure if I want to deal with all those loose bitz, but it is always interesting to see how others do it.
Cheers.

Can we change ESE's title to 'Inspector Clouseau' please? And never, EVER, let him walk around with a long plank carried over his shoulder...

Got some work in on the old dirty bastard:
I'm painting him with a stitched-on CWE face. Tried to have the edge of the face reddish as though it's slightly infected or not quite taking the way it should....
Lots more work to do on him before he's ready for the magnetization tutorial.

Perfect... such a great concept for this model. You totally actualized what you were describing on the podcast. Perfect execution and totally creepy. Keep it up ESE

This is an absolutely wonderful project log; a joy to behold. How do you get that rich purple-red? I'm trying to find the right colour for my army but am really struggling to find the right shade.

P3
Than you so much for the kind words! I use this formula for the purple:
1. P3 Murderous Magenta mixed with black. Around 70/30? (I eyeball it for the right color)The base is a sort of eggplant color. 2. Same mix with more Magenta 3. Straight Murderous Magenta 4. 50/50 Murderous Magenta/ GW Administratum Grey 5. Fine edge highlight of Adminstratum Grey.
I'll shed the recesses only with a little black wash on armor plates, but not much else. The color certainly could be enriched using glazes, but the majority of the army was painted before the released the new glazes and I'd rather not go back over the whole damned army
More work on the Heamonculus this weekend. Needs to be painted soon.....

Love the way the face is differentiated from the pale skin underneath, and that reddish touch is just fantastic. He/she/it will lookgreat when finished.

Little bit o' progress:
They actually go pretty fast from here. The new canopy that I won on Ebay (for the price of a kidney ) arrived today, so I should be able to get that Void Raven going. Played it for the first time yesterday....and it was shot out of the sky as soon as it arrived by a dual Kheres Assault Cannon/Cyclone Launcher Contemptor
Maybe a great paint job will help me make 8 jink saves........or not

Hey ESE quick question.... how do you plan on gluing the double-cockpit into the Void Raven? I messed up the "regular" cockpit by using modeling glue and had to borrow a replacement from a venom. I was thinking regular "white glue" but wasn't sure if you had a stronger glue you planned on using. I really want to debut mine this weekend at the start of a campaign but dont want to ruin the double canopy in the process.... any suggestions?

I used regular modeling glue with just a little spot at the back and a little spot at the front rather than the entire perimeter. Worked for my Razorwing and the Venom that I used the full canopy for. I'm planning on doing the same for the the VR large canopies. The plan is to do one and let it dry/offgas for a bit before putting the other side on.

Yeah, I magnetized all of them for a tutorial. Probably won't ever use the options, but at least I'll have them(and the memory of painting all those damned arms )

Finishing those Wracks has been a little elusive as this old injury has been preventing me from painting for more than 15 minutes at a time:
Hoping to get them done after recording Splintermind Episode 4 tomorrow with Thor
I'm giving a full-coven army using the supplement a rip this weekend and really want those models done for it!

Damn ESE sorry to hear about your health woes! I've got all sorts of hernieated discs in my upper back which give me constant paint and really put a damper on my gaming fun. Hope you can get it under control with some PT, or acupuncture/massage.
But on a lighter note the Wracks look fantastic and thanks for the modeling advice... that Void Raven is driving me nuts!
