| So I've just had my ~2900 point collection of various Eladrith skyrocket to costing 4218 points!
Using the full 2900 points worth of models was an exceedingly rare occurance.
As in once every 6 months when my friends and I run a 'get AAAALLL the tables in one secure location, and then bring everything for a week-long Apocolypse' Game.
But now that my WYSIWYG army is worth 4218 points, I am concerned that much of my collection will be relegated to the shelf for purposes of competitive play.
I know that Massaen has recommended a shift from 1850 point games to 2500 point games in the competitive field for similar reasons. Is anyone else having similar thoughts or problems?
Cheers. | |

| I think it depends on how long games take at the higher points values. If a 1850 game in 7e is now a 2500 game in 8e, does it still take the same amount of time or is it quicker? One of the objectives of the various TO's that were involved in 8e playtesting was to get a quicker game as very few games at Nova, LVO etc actually came to a natural conclusion and were stopped by the clock more often than not. | |

| Thanks for the speedy reply, my good Count.
Looking at it from a TO perspective, with the objective being faster games, I can certainly see less models on the board being helpful! Alongside the general rule-culling that has gone on in an attempt to 'streamline the game', I can definitely see games going faster. Though how timing scales in relation to size will definitely be important.
Also, the flag under your Account Pic is appearing on my screen as the Saint George's Cross with nothing else, and the tag on it being 'England'. But I swear I've seen it as the Union Jack before... Am I going crazy, or just senile?

| Nope, always had it as St George's Cross so you must be going mad | |

| Well, I played a 1750 against Necrons yesterday. 3 hours and we just finished turn 2.
The only phase it's faster in, is the movement phase. Which obviously makes hardly any difference.

| I'm very sceptical of the game being faster, from what I've seen in games online so far this isn't the case. It looks as if smoke-and-mirrors are being used to show us how the game is quicker, when in fact it's only quicker because at the same points values you're getting a lot less models on the table. The game seems to flow faster, with turn 1 charges and things getting into action faster, and things certainly die faster but it doesn't seem as if the game plays faster unless you're rolling with the less models on the table due to costs issue. I wanna see some 2500 games which I guess is around what 1850 used to be. I can't see games being quicker overall myself. | |

| We have play tested some, and for now its mostly the same time when playing 2000pts as it was with 1850pts.
However, its in the first week, and I do expect the time to be less, but not that significant.
I do think 2000pts will be the new go to point limit for tournaments.

| Just watched a Nids v Astra Militarum game.
Both players went for the 'Massive Hoardes' build.
2000 points.
Nids tabled on turn 3, 2 hours 34 minutes and I-didn't-count seconds.
Admittedly this is an edge case, normally games do not have excess of 400 models to either side.
But still! | |
