| Hi,
in 7th the Solitaire was one of my favorite units. Even at 150 pts, he was a fun model to field that could often turn the tide with an epic blitz.
I must say I'm happy with the changes in 8th edition: - lower point cost and easier to field: you can field him as an elite choice in a DE detachment (no need to be Ynnari) - garanteed S5 attacks, even if he isnt charging - blitz minimum move is 14 inches - rising crescendo and flip belt sound awesome - Now S5 attacks wound him on 3+ instead of 2+
While he lost AP and his 2+ cover (from the heroes path formation), he looks more survivable: - you can use a command point to reroll a failed 3++ save - he cannot be shot at if there is closer target (but snipers can)
Some spells buff him (Edit: removed bubbles as they dont affect him): - fog of dreams can be cast to protect him - if you play Ynnari, Ancestor grace make him reroll 1 to hit, and word of the phoenix (or normal soulburst) can make him attack twice the turn he blitz for 20 2+ S5 attacks. - Soulburst can also be useful to retreat back behind another unit to protect him from shooting.
Does anyone played him yet in 8th?

| ^^ Trystis is right, the Solitaire doesn't have a <Masque> keyword so he can't gain those aura buffs. Still great though, much improved much like most of the Harlequin army. | |

| He doesn't take their buffs but he can be affected by the buff spells. And ynnari buffs/spells if he goes that route. | |

Damn On the other hand with his speed the shadowseer and troupe master would have a hard time staying close. I'll edit the first post to remove that part. Thanks

| With Ynnari he can also take advantage of Soulburst which makes him a great buy for the points. | |

| DOnt need him in Ynnari IMO, he is better with Rising Cresendo. He is one of my Favorite characters in the game! I use him EVERY game. I just typed this but will again for you guys Last game I have to hide my Solitaire in the back (he had a stormraven) I was able to move 12, run 6, and i did cast movement and advance 6" again and then charged 6" for a total of 42" if only t Blitz worked with Twilight pathways that would be easily 60" movementsHe also killed Dante easily :3 I did miss play him one game and he died....

| Wait, does flip belt allows him to jump over buildings? It`s says that you move across models and terrain as if they were not there. That surely makes him quite mobile. Not to mention other clowns

| Short answer, yes. It literally says "as if they were not there". So pretend they are not there | |

| Seems good to me.
For a very low cost, you can get an impressive character who can just go and do his own thing each game.

Bear in mind that you have to pay for the weapons he "comes with" in addition to his listed cost. That has made me think certain models were unreasonably cheap several times now. Eldar Dark Reapers are listed as being 5 points each, but the weapon they come with is like 31 points.

Eldar Dark Reapers are listed as being 5 points each, but the weapon they come with is like 31 points. Yeah, that's tripped me up a few times. I was looking at the Solitaire's correct cost though (well the second time, anyway ). Even with his gear, I think he's still pretty cheap. That said, I suppose it depends what you judge it against. My Necron characters tend to go from about 100-230pts, so she's on the lower end of the scale there. However, if you instead compare it to my 30pt IG Company Commanders, I guess it looks very expensive indeed. He's more than some of our characters, but at the same time he basically comes with a Jump Pack (meaning he doesn't need an expensive transport) and is also a lot better in combat than any of our HQs.

| He is fully 117pts, extremely cheap for what he does. | |

| Yeah, well, the rules stopping other characters from joining units and preventing people from targeting him have been pretty kind to his solitary existence. His only major drawback from the previous edition was basically eliminated this time around. I'm sure he'll do well. | |

| The solitaire having both a Caress and Kiss and all of his attacks, how would you split the attacks up? He no longer takes just 1 Kiss attack. Would you split evenly? Or would you pick your target and decide what is best? Against Primaris marines I'd probably go with the Kiss as you can do more damage (possibly killing them in 1 attack each with a decent damage roll).
What do you think? | |

| You pick.
The other day i charge 3 venomthropes and so i picked the Kiss (it was a blitz) 10 D3 wounds on a 4+ save (he would get 5+) seemed a lot better, and it was i was able to kill them..

| Would it be wise to arm the Solitaire with both in a tournament so you can choose what's best in the situation? | |

I thought he came with both automatically? That may be, I thought that I read you had to pay for each separately. I could be wrong though.

Oh you have to pay for both, but you can't choose not to take them, if you see what I mean.

| They took all gear and gave them there own point costs, the unit themselves also has there own point costs.
But if the unit/model says "it is armed with" then you pay the cost of that(those) item(s)
I assumed they did this for balance purpose

| Its a shame he can't embark transports anymore - he doesn't gain much admittedly but it would all but guarantee a T2 charge if he could | |

| He can charge turn 1 guaranteed and he is a character so he cant be targeted unless by a sniper. | |
