| Hey all, looking for some advice on paints.
I;ve seen several different Washes and Inks around but the ones I;ve tried have been fairly weak. More glazes and washes, than what I'm really looking for - a good strong Ink.
So anyone have any advice on the best ones?
I'm looking for something more like the oooooold GW Inks (in the hexagonal pots) that you could just paint over a white undercoat and get a decent colour out of it.
Thanks in advance.

| One of the things i like is Oil Wash. Take some Oil paint, like Winsor and Newton basic ones, and Mineral Spirits of the same manufacturer. Dilute and use.
This is sorta like wash+ink. It dries very slowly, you can do some work after with it after you place it on the model.
There is also Glaze Medium in Valejo line, pretty much what you seek. Chose any airbrush thin color and mix with medium.
If you are looking for brutal straight forward thing - Valejo Inks works ok.

| The Army Painters Strong Tone Ink is pretty good for a heavier shade. Not the dip cans, (though that may work for you also by the sounds of it?) but the small ink bottle versions, I find them quite useful and very cheap. | |

| Minwax wood floor finish, (dont get Polyshade for DE, polyshade is a bit more bold in color aka less see through), this stuff works great i did my full nids army with it. I primed them white and color red with the old version of Mephistan Red. | |

| Good suggestions, one problem. They're all......brown.
I need something in a red.

| The old citadel paint range is still available under the name "Coat d'Arms". You can pick them up @ essexminiatures . co.uk. They should have the strong inks you want unless they have changed the formula over the years. I still have all my inks that I bought in 1996 so I haven't sampled the current lineup. I even used one of the original paints "elf gray" only yesterday. Still fresh after 20+ years. +1 for glittery Domo Kun raging with the nids. | |

| Bought a couple of pots of Amethyst Purple a while back. Still exactly as I remembered it. | |

| I personally use Liquitex Acrylic inks for all my inking needs - you can get them in many colours and they are carried in art supply stores everywhere. Plus the bottle is huge so you can use it as liberally as you'd like! | |

| I tired some of the Coat d'Arms Ink Wash Red, and found it too thin. Just like the existing GW inks.
May see if the Liquitex is any better.
