Megaforce set available for holidays

I'm probably being very obvious here but I assume the reason they don't do limited edition models in boxed sets is it isn't as cost effective as having one model on general sale for two decades rather than try and boost an army box for a few months.

I guess it's good only for Starters since GW make another sprue for them anyway and in that case they want unique model there (you know, people would buy it for models only, like in case of Deffkopters).

It's £105.50 from darksphere, including postage.

That's £81 cheaper than buying things at RRP direct from GW.

Hi Everyone,

This is going to be a great box to start off my journey down the road of depraved spikey bits! I am unfourtunately still traveling for work and I have not yet had a chance to get the Codex from my FLGS... about how many points does the box work out to? No need for specifics, just a rough number would be great. I am trying to make sure that Santa brings enough stuff for a decent 1,000 point list ("tossed salad" style to try out many different things).

I think the box is roughly 1000 points. But it lacks a HQ choice, and also probably doesnt have enough warriors compared to wyches.

You could easily kitbash an Archon or Succubus out of the set.

Building the contents of the box into a functional (if slightly odd) build I come out with around 900-950 points, but you have about 10 Wyches and 5 Warriors you aren't using. So you definitely could build a 1000 point army out of the mega-force alone if you were a bit indifferent about how viable everything was.

The top additional purchases to my mind would be an additional Raider, Ravager, and Venom and also a Haemonculous or two. That would give you a solid brace of options easily up into almost 1500 point range at a fairly decent cash savings.

@ Thor. Most likely I will kit bash to create my HQ slots. I plan to paint and play the mega force and then pick up additional army components as I see what I like un 250 ish point components.

I may start out with the finecast Archon, but that model needs some tweaks to make me happy, the giant rambo knife for starters needs to go!

Remember that each Raider hull come with 2 crewmen and 3 "cliffhangers" (so You get up to 6 additional Kabalites or up to 10 if You skip crew)
Venom come with (apart from pilot) 2 Wyches + Gunner so if You want make dual SC under cockpit, You have 3 Wyches.

So actually this set give You nearly 2 boxes of Wyches (up to 18) and 3 boxes of Warriors (up to 30, with gunners and drivers). And You get heavy and special weapons from Scourges and (maybe) Blaster barrels from Reavers.

And if You want something really cool... Stock models of Incubi have armour very similar to Kabalites, with few small armour plates, fancy helmets and "wings". Add bits from Reavers/Wyches and You can have pretty neat unit.

I find that the deal is pretty good. But the only problem I have with the deal is this: I do not need any more Raiders and I do not like Scourges.

The rest of the box is fair game for me, especially the Reavers.

We need to work out some sort of exchange where I give you Reavers and I get Raiders and Scourges...

Well I doubt I have that amount of cash to throw in one shot...but if I do I could do that reaver swap. Lol

Just to let you guys now, Wayland initially had these up as discounted,

but now they are not.

Darksphere had them up as discounted, but now they don't have them at all. Although they did say "Gw only let us buy a few a week, so we dont want to keep it up, oversell, then disappoint people"

Totalwargamer still has it up for 101.40 + shipping.


There seems to be some confusion over if the box will be direct only (and therefore not go to discounted stores) or not. I bit the bullet and bought from totalwargamer last night.

Why isn't it on GW website if its out in like a week?

There are 20 Wyches , not 25.

Indeed... 20 + what You scratch from Venom.

Just purchased mine- pretty painful for the wallet but its the only bargain I have ever see GW do! Totalled up, the cost of the figures included is £203.50 if brought seperately so you save a massive 35% (70 odd quid.

I also placed an order for the mega force at my FLGS (+1 Gaming near New Orleans). I am excited to get my force going when I get it. I agree that it does have a nice savings compared to thier normal prices.

What do you think of the content of the force? What if anything would you change? Personally I would have swapped the 5 Scourges for Incubi, give the venom a transport use.

Personally I would like to have a bunch of hellions becuase it would be a good base for either a beastmasters pack or the baron and his cronies. It also fits with the all plastic theme of this battleforce.

That or another bunch of reavers or venom.

I like the general composition of the megaforce, but I agree with crisis, that swapping some of the reavers for some helions would have been nice... if only to have a pick from all the plastics available

Well well I guess things can defiantly be too good to be true, as I ordered the megaforce from totalwargamer on friday and today get this email:

Games Workshop contacted us yetsreday informing us that the total allocation across all online independent stockists would be just 20 of each type of megaforce, meaning just two of each for us. We did manage to secure significantly more throuh our bricks & mortar shop account but this still doesn't meet the number we need to fulfil all pre-orders.

Prior to yesterday we were given no indicationn that these would be limited in this way, in fact their trade team were only informed late Friday afternoon.

We decided who would receive theses items on a first come first served basis, but we also reduced any orders for multiples down to one to ensure that the maximum number of customers received a megaforce.

If you wish to purchase this item elsewhere I would recommend going direct to Games Workshops website as this situation affects all online retailers and purchasing through third party may just mean you end up getting another email such as this one.

Once again sorry for the inconvenience, please let us know how you would like to proceed.

Now I am going to have to spend an extra £30 which is annoying as well as just pure annoyance. Also my order from wayland is delayed as they are waiting for my battlefoam case!

Thought i should let you all know that it's likely you wont get a megaforce from anyone but GW.
