Hello everyone. Today I am playing a 1500 point list vs dark angels and this is the list i threw together. Any critiques would be greatly appreciated. I have only played 2 games of 8th and am still feeling the units out.
1500 point battalion

Hq (188)
2x haemies w/ electro whips and hexrifles

Troops (344)
4 units of
5 wracks w/ electro whip, hexrifle, and ossefactor (86 points)

Elites (324)
2 units of 4 grotesques w/ electro whip for each (162)

Transports (358)
2x Raider w/ darklance and shock prow 116 each
1x raider w/ disintegrator cannon and shockprow 126

Heavy support(284)
2x talos w/ haywire blasters and twin liquifier guns (284)


My total comes to 1498. Im considering dropping the haywire blastors but they were cheap and could have a use. As for the hexrifles on the wracks i may swap them for stinger pistols but i had some success with the rifles my last game so i figured i would give them another chance. So any advice would be appreciated, and ill give you an update after about how it goes!

In my (admittedly limited) experience, the hexrifle is just not good. Yes it can attack enemy characters, but it's a heavy weapon and only deals 1 (maybe 2) damage. Wracks want to be mobile, so you're only hitting on 4+, wounding on (probably) 4+, and most targets will have good armor or an invuln so even the ap-1 isn't amazing. At one shot per unit, it's just not good. The FAQ'd Stinger Pistol is a much more reliable option.

Haywire blasters are bad. They're relatively expensive and less reliable than they used to be, and now that everything has 10+ wounds even throwing a suicide squad at a tank means you might manage to slow it down. If you want a shooty Talos, either the stock double splinter cannon tail or the stinger pod (so you can advance and shoot) works pretty well.

Also it looks like you're missing a Raider? Or something, 2 of the Wrack squads are going to have to footslog and you know how the Dark Eldar feel about getting dirt on their boots.

So i swapped out the haywire blasters for stinger pods. As for the hexrifles, i was admittedly leaning towards swaping them out, becoming heavy really ruined them a bit...idk if i will have time to change those out before my game today but i will for my friday game. As for my foot slogging wracks normally they would go in one of the grotesques raiders and the grotesques would be replaced by another talos or cronos or something but that particular model is being borrowed by a buddy for his eldar list. Thanks for the advice i didnt realize how bad haywire got hit in this edition.

Do you need to be this restrictively Coven?

You don't have any shooting and very little anti tank. Is there no way to get a Ravager or two in there ?

Yes unforchantly i dont own a ravanger though i will be purchasing one at some point. Also my list altered slightly for my game i dropped one grotesque so ran a unit of 3 instead of 4 and threw spliter cannons on one talos and heat lances on the the other. I also gave the grots with whips liquifiers. My match when honesty pretty well. We didnt get to finish but the coven units took a massive amount of shooting and with stood most of it. I admitadly got luck turn one and brought his bomber down to one wound with the dark lances and shaved 5 off another vehicle a rhino if memory serves with my talos heatlances. Got two bikers with hexrifle fire as well not to bad. His shooting dropped a raider and 2 wracks and shaved one wound off a talos. He the deep striked some terminators and with all those power fists they dropped a second raider. It was starting to look bleak.. Next turn i blew up his rhino with my surviving raider and the talos heatlances and of all things got his flyer with the two talos liquifiers Killed his remaining bikers with splinter cannon fire and ossefactor fire (got to love that ap3 and the mortal wounds) i also dropped a scout or two woth hexrifles. But in cc i swarmed his terminators with 8 wracks a haemie and 3 grotesques and they crumbled. 4 of my grotesques managed to get to his librarian in terminator armor and slaughtered it. My talos failed its charge, and failed the re roll... Next round he shot into my grotesques with another rhino that had been camping an objective and with some tac marines and killed one. His othe hq some named character on a jet bike forget which one. Shot some wracks killed 3 his scouts as well and othe tac marines shot at my talos with their heavy weapons but it braved both shots and they put bolter fire into my grotesques and they only took 1 wound. I dont think he charged me that turn. And then as i was moving in turn 3 the store started to close...i honestly didnt expect much from pure coven but thats the majority of what i have cause i love the fluff and the models, but they did pretty well, certainly held their own. I know its not the most detailed account and im sure i left some stuff out but i wasnt writing any of this down or anything.
