ETC lists are out.

There is quite a number of birdspam lists (and a couple that aren't!) for the True Kin, but it looks like there's still a great deal of variety there.

The list that is cracking me is page 47. 8 Weird boyz...

People laughed at my bird lists, but now look. Look at the meta I have wrought. Where is your balance, your promised playtesting?

As a side note, are you seriously claiming that Birdspam is solely your creation and that everyone else is aping your original idea? Or are you just reminding people that you were a very early adopter of an idea which other people had concurrently, in a facetious and humorous manner?

It being the internet, and having had experience with a couple "I invented aluminum foil types" on 40k forums, I sometimes can't tell...

I know for a fact Andrew Gonyo came up with a similar idea involving the birds as I did around the same time, but I'm the first one to post this list idea on any forum/group/discord as far as I am aware. I can trace my posts back as far as June 9th for it.

What I DO know is I was the only person trying to convince people to run the bird lists in the more popular Facebook groups and that it only started to gain traction after I beat it over people's heads. It was so early that by the time the actual Index was released it was already a meme.

In any sense, I find it a bit of a shame 90% of the DE I've seen on that list is limited to two models...ah well, I guess it's an improvement over being the 10 point HQ provider.

Well this is what happens when birds are cheap as heck.

Empathise perhaps, but it was pretty clear as day.
I do admit though while as soon as I read the points and stat lines I thought it was going to be a winner of a unit, I didn't realise just how much.
it is like they are good for the exact reason that carnifexes aren't. This may turn out to be a shift in meta(or eventually new weapons) that catches them along way with horde guard and horrors.
But I'm not seeing the options yet.

Yeah my group didn't understand how good the flocks seemed until I pointed it out to them. I only run 20 because I like having gamer friends! Haha!

People easily skip by the flocks in the Xenos book. Beast packs and Talos are my favorite Dark Eldar unit so I went straight to checking them out when the boys were released. I am glad I was correct about the flocks being awesome.

I'm genuinely disappointed by how awful the Talos is. My Talos is one of my favorite models and used to wreck stuff on the table. Now he's useless.

I don't find the Talos useless. It is not amazing though. I am going to be trying 4 Talos with splinter cannons and Macro-Scalpels. 48poision shots and some cc sounds ok to me. But I think you have to write your list around the Talos if you are going to take them. Have higher priority targets like Ravagers and Razorwings Jetfighters etc. Not perfect by any means, but it could work.
And PfP helps the Talos a lot.

I think the Talos needs the scalpel to be -2 or -3ap. That would be enough for me.

As well as make his other weapon options viable. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what purpose the Chain Flails and Ichor Injector are supposed to serve..

I've had some luck using them as fire magnets, and the Stinger Pods I've found to be effective at dealing with T3/4 blobs.

They're usable in the sense that you can push them around the board and roll dice at things but the moment you compare their points cost to other things they suddenly make absolutely no sense like 90% of the Haemonculus Covens units.

Now I will definitely take two or three my next game to give them a try.

The bird lists are undoubtedly quite powerful but i think they are just far better in a team style tournament. Where you can, to a limited degree, choose which of your opponents lists you come against. Compared to a singles tournament where you just get what you get and a more balanced all comers list would generally be better.

The same doesnt really stand for the stormraven spam lists as they are just so amazingly generalist its terrifying
