| Now that he's been faqd to have a 4+ invulnerable save, what are your thoughts on this guy?
Does he look worth taking now, or still overcosted?

| It bugs me that he costs more than Yvraine - who isn't much worse in combat but also brings fantastic psychic support. | |

| I'd still sooner bring Yvraine or the Yncarne, the Visarch just isn't straight up good enough at crunking things to be worth it, he'll always be last place in the triumvirate. | |

| Personally I like both together, which is both fluffy and effective. And I think you're underestimating him in combat. He does more than twice the damage that Yvraine does and is more resilient. | |

Something I've noticed about 8th is that I've become very wary of sending characters into combat (at least, with anything meaningful). Aside from leaving them relatively exposed, it's the concern about how easily they can be killed in return. For example, my Destroyer Lord looks pretty resilient on paper with T6, 6 wounds and a 3+/4+ save. However, a lucky lascannon can kill him in a single shot. Likewise, an enemy only needs to slip a power fist or thunder hammer through his save a couple of times to have a decent chance of killing him. Going back to the Visarch, it seems like those wounds can disappear very fast in combat. What's more, he doesn't have an aura to fall back on, so every turn he's not in combat is points wasted. - Count Adhemar wrote:

Does it not depend on the target? Also, against anything with AP-1 or better their resilience is identical. Honestly, you're probably right about him being good now. As above, I've started to look at characters rather differently in 8th. But then I'm just weird.

| Not really weird ... I mean characters have the same purpose for me now as they always have ... Stand in the back and hold the objective point closest to my table edge, the only one that actually has to move with the army now is the haemy ... The succubus can go off and do her thing without to much impact on the wyches, the archon ... He just stands there yelling orders and overseeing the battle to his glorious victory ... And the haemy moves along solely to find pieces and parts he wants or surviving citizens that he can experiment on | |

| Consider that his cost is higher than Yvraine's because his presence gives her 3 times her wounds (his + his and her regenerations). | |

Ah, I see. So he's actually just a piece of Wargear that got its own entry. Interesting.

| Defintiely better, but still overcosted I think. Kayvaan Shrike is only about 9pts more expensive, certainly not much more, yet has the chapter masters aura ability and does more damage in combat. | |

| I like to run him with 2 sslyth. Their bases are big enough to protect him in combat and when they die he gets more attacks and soulbursts. His damage output is okay until you put out 14 attacks in 1 turn. | |

| I proxy him as an Autarch. When he lost his ability to grant a free warlord trait he lost his utility. | |
