| Hey there, I recently bought some clawed friend and Sslyth (after years of refreins despite their prices) and I was kinda upset that most of the un-popular miniatures are monopose : Usually you can't really do much with clawed fiend as the parts are rather thick (can't much bend them with hair dryers) and already have a single pose (can't move head, can looks weird if repositionned). Same thing for (current) archon, lhamean, Sslyth, and so on.. So I wanted to open a topic for everyone to join, for inspiration, advices, tutorials on modifications on monoposes models, with pictures, and a rating like so :
- easy (bending with hair dryers)
- to medium (use of other DE parts, pinning)
- to hard (heavy conversions, green stuff sculpting, third parties parts, etc.)
I'll start with a couple posts with recent work.

| Clawed FiendSo I ~recently ordered two of them, then bought a third one as the 8th edition doesn't allow squads of 2 anymore, and as I finished the first one, I didn't wanted the others to look alike (as I plan to maybe buy some more, depending on the results on the table :p) Here's the first one with the original pose : For the second one, I thought a lot and considered it was too painful to change the position, and I had the idea to change the angle/slope instead. I'd note this conversion as easy/medium (for the clawed fiend at least). Don't mind the albino color scheme. I used a spare part of GW building (can't remember which, it was bought like 10+ years ago), cut it with a plastic saw, and pinned the clawed fiend hand to the wall and voila, a really dynamic pose without much effort. Not to mention it also looks great around other ruins For the third, I couldn't find something ~easy to do, so I took some time and really converted it. I tried first to bend his right arm with a hair dryer (surprisingly medium heat didn't damage the finecast fur, even with bending) but i ended up broking it.. and pinning both arms. I'd note this one as hard, as it required multiple pinning & green stuff sculpting (fur & some muscles). Tell me if you want more details about the last one, I can make another post with step by step pictures. This one was also pinned to the base, for a more dynamic posture (yeah, I love pinning stuff... ._.') The pose is a little akward (IMO due to the twisted body) but at least it isn't the same right arm lending backward ^^. I hope this first post will show you what could be stocked here, and I also hope some of you will find it usefull | |

| SslythsHaven't painted them yet, but already worked on some conversions. I'd mark them as easy/medium. Easy to change the direction of the tail : Simply cut it with a scalpel where it's attached, then use a hair dryer (medium heat, around 10-20 sec as it's finecast). Gently re-pose the tail and wait/blow on it to cool it down to fix it. Medium to switch parts : I wasn't quite happy with the Shard Carabines (in holster, held by an arm) so i switched most of them with Scourges' Shard Carabines. I also used parts from other stuff (kabalites, wyches, dark elves witches). Most of them required pinning (didn't wated them to be fragile), and some of them Liquid green stuff. Soyy about the medium quality of the images, I'm not at my place. | |

| One thing to note about Resin, if you warm it up you can move parts of the miniature. How water or hairdryer will do.
Man, such a cool modelling skills, and you dont thin your paint. Seriously, do it. Make a wet pallet.

| Will try the warm water trick for the resin, thanks Thanks again for the modeling skills, I'm just trying to have cool minis Already thinning paint with ~30-50% water, and making multiple layers. Already tried wet palette a while ago and I'm not a big fan, I might try again if I found the spare time (I'm used to GW paint consistency on regular palette..). What does make you think this isn't thin ? Clogged details or something ? | |

| Has anyone tried making Clawed Fiends with Tyranid bits? If so, would anyone recommend any kits or specific parts? | |

| Nope, but I'd be happy to hear/see about those.
I plan on medium terms to create some with count vampire varghulfs though (not sure I'll do conversion with clawed fiend, too expensive :/ or maybe if I found some used, cheaper).

It shines, thats usually a sign, im looking at hair on DE succubi and pistol. Clawed Fiend is very good. Glaive is quality work. Maybe its just colors, i dont know. You know this trick on blacks? Never paint blacks as black, always use grey. In this case - blue-something. Also another trick, never paint white over black, you'l die of old age before you do it right with thin layers. Use something likewolf grey undercolor to speed thingsup. Greys always looks good real fast on blacks.

| Succubus is a miniature I painted a few years ago, and I was diluing paints less at this time. The shiny shiny effect might be because of the flash of my camera (I ended up the photoshoot in the late afternoon, not enough natural light). Could you be more specific with blacks ? I'm still not 100% statisfied with abaddon black + highlights with dark reaper/ fenrisian grey. Have you some examples ? (We miht open a nnew thread or go private to not go off topic to much). Fot white yeah I learned it the hard way. I used to do like 8 - 10 white scar layers on chaos black spray (wich was a cleaner finish to me ), but now I do administratum grey x2, white scar, nuln oil, ulthuan grey, white scar Or something like that. Gives me better shading & shiny enough white | |

Its not that hard, basically, you never use black to color black, base color is black+some grey, shadows are black. And those shadows must be used very sparingly. Here is good video explaining https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haWi1etjtfY.

| Thanks, I'll give it a look tomorow (can't tonight). Usually I use a mix a black & dark reaper / incubi darkness / eshin grey for base black =) | |
