| https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/08/31/breaking-news-studio-preview-from-the-nova-open/ - Next 3 Codexes:
"We also heard what the next three codexes will be following the release of Death Guard and Adeptus Mechanicus in September. Before the end of November, xenos fans will be pleased to see some of the galaxy’s alien races get their codexes for the new edition with Codex: Craftworlds and Codex: Tyranids, while Codex: Astra Militarum lets fans of the Imperium’s vast human armies create thematic armies from their favourite Regiment."
Didn't see this posted yet, so here it is^ Codexes, cool. But those custom vehicles/models tho... Thoughts on the article?

| Wait, is GW saying their points are sometimes wrong: "Updated matched play points for dozens of units and weapons across every army" But they give them in chapter approved, in other words, you must pay for them? Yeah you payed for this rush job book, where there are some problems with. Don't worry we are aware, you can now buy another book every few months so that you can fix some of those problems every time you throw money at us....

| My opinion is the points update isn't new points but instead a printed list of the changes from the FAQ and Q&E they have done up till now. The article doesn't really say if they are actually new. | |

| So how far behind Codex:Craftworld can we expect ours to be? Seems like we will be waiting until 2018.
Has anyone thought about what future models we might get or which current models might get updated? I think anything that is currently finecast like Incubi and Mandrakes needs to be updated. Drahzar could do with being updated as well.
It's not a given that we would get any new models mind.

| "Finally Chapter Approved will also give Factions that have not yet received their codex some expanded rules while they wait, allowing these factions to make use of some of the cool new mechanics available in Warhammer 40,000." seems like a good thing. I would imagine this means more generic warlord traits and strategems for all armies. | |

| I think we will be latter because we are going to get some models so we need a bigger release window, and we needed more work done on our codex, than many of the others. | |

| I think we have a long time to wait for a codex because historically the Dark Eldar have often seemed like an afterthought for GW (when they remember the True Kin exist at all). For that reason, I also wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any new models or units when the book eventually arrives.
But we might get something, and if we do... I'm not even going to speculate on what it might be. I'm sure there are reasons for why GW chooses to update kits when they do, that probably have a lot to do with their designers and sculptors and manufacturing process and maybe even just whatever they think is interesting at that moment, but there's never seemed to be any relationship between the kits most in need of an update and those that actually receive one.
I think Grotesques need new models (as in plural this time) the most, followed by the Court. I also think there's plenty of room in our lore for wholly new units. I'm just doubtful about that need factoring in to what we actually get, if we get anything at all.

| Well the main issue is that the points correction will be optional to use not mandatory as the whole book is optional. Including the boost to index armies. Not looking forward to the book. I dont like the changes to who goes first roll of as it boosts horde and spam armies. Giving brimstone spam or conscript spam better chance to go first is not really good idea. And I dont look forward to ppl arguing whether to allow the book or not. Some will want it and some wont. | |

I'm pretty sure competitions will force you to use the latest and most recent profiles and point values. As for casual friendly matches, well, everything is optional and a matter of consensus.

| Well if we get dex, noone can force us to use index. With CA anyone is in their right just not to agree for you to use the rules there. Its not FAQ and not mandatory. I dont think it is as sure that comp scebe will adopt the new points. | |

| There was a FAQ that answered questions about codexes releases and stated just that : you are supposed (which is a nice way to say "obligated") to refer to the latest rules for a unit when playing in an official event. | |

| Cheaper than Warlocks and Psykery that makes Warlocks crawl under the bed and tremble. IA - Forces of Astra Militarum - Renegades and Heretics. | |

| Malefic Lords are basically the workhorses of the current Chaos lists that are so prolific. The fact they don't have official models technically (you are presumably supposed to run renegade psyker models for them but only 1 person I saw was actually doing this at the GT) means people pretty much just make a weirdly painted Poxwalker and say it's a Malefic Lord, making them not only difficult to deal with but also difficult to distinguish on the battlefield. They also allow easy access to additional command points thanks to the detachment that allows numerous HQs. | |

| Holy crap, I just saw the lists:
https://mismatchedplay.com/2017/08/31/nova-invitational-lists/
Its basically all horde / smite spam.
The top 5 are basically: The best named characters + conscripts/brimstones and as many smites/artillery you can fit.

| Man, props to the three xenos lists. Right now tourny meta is skewed to imperial and chaos but at least chaos is competitive and it's kinda cool to see Orks, Harlies and GSC as the 3 xenos as opposed to craftworld, cron and tau. I think you'll have a balanced game when you see relatively equal representation at big tournaments like this | |

| Can someone please tell me, with the release of the 3 planned codex in November was it??? Does that then make it 8 codex released?
Space Marines Chaos SM Grey Knights Death Guard Mechanicus Craft world Tyranids Guard
What happens next? Will it then be a wait until the new year before other codex appear? When is Chapter Approved being released?

| I think chapter approved is coming in december. They only announce stuff ~ 1 month in advance max. I could be wrong though. | |

| Does anyone know if there were any Finecast items in any of the released codexes? Is there any indication of whether they are dropping resin models with the new rules? | |

| I would assume maybe DE characters but GW seems to be focusing on plastic so probably not. I think resin is probably going to be more FW focused.
I dont like resin. I would only put up with it if I was getting a HUGE discount. I dont have confirmation on anything though. Just what GW has been doing lately. I couldnt even tell you the last resin model GW released. Looks like its been plastic since they switched gears last year.
