While I doubt it's Vect (unfortunatley because of phrasing) it's hopefully a Dark Eldar thing. I could it being Eldar as well, but I don't think it's either of those things. I think it's an Aelf from Age of Sigmar.

My reasoning for that is there have been no Elf releases in AoS yet, and they've been going through Chaos god cycles in both 40k and AoS, and Elves are always paired against Slaanesh so perhaps it's hinting at a Slaanesh V Elves release? (Maybe we'll get some cool Dark Elf bits to use )

I've never really seen the scale look on a DE model, especially not the modern DE line. I'd love to have Vect back, of course, but I agree that it's most likely and Aelf.

Honestly it looks like a bit of a whip lying across a stone with twigs on it ... And more AoS looking than 40k looking and we still haven't seen what the last rumor mill thing was yet (at least I havent) so this one could take a while too ... But I think a fairly safe guess is that if it is 40k it's related to something with power armour on the side of both the imperium and chaos and if "ancient hero" is to be a clue than a primarch it is

Hmm I think the language they use suggests AoS. "Ancient Machine" typically refers to either 30K SM vehicles or AoS in my experience.


I want it to be Vect, but I haven't seen any indication that any armies are going to get any new models outside of CSM and SM this year.

...but hope runs eternal!

As far as rumours go, I still doubt that they'd tease a basically unknown character for a niche army.

That "an ancient hero atop some kind of flying machine" part is probably just a call-out to the usual "plastic sisters riding in a plastic thunderhawk with the Lion riding on top" thing... I doubt this is a DE thing.

"An ancient hero atop some kind of flying machine" accurately describes a good 80% of the characters in 40k, in all fairness

If Vect isn't a Hero, then they are few heroes in the 40k franchise. They are all more anti-heroes.
If there is something to be loved in 40k, it's that there is no Manicheism (like in Star Wars, for example). People make fun of the grimdark as being a caricature of itself, but it at least is a more interesting than the "Good vs Bad" caricature.

I love the grim dark, it gives so much flavour to the game and allows for so many more interesting story lines than just; the empire is attacking, the rebels are now counter attacking. Lucky the empire attacked, because as rebels, they would have seemed like bad guys if they launched the first assault...

Given that daemons are coming in January... I'm thinking it's definitely not DE. Maybe a Nurgle herald or something like that.

Correct. Though with how the storyline is going it would not surprise me and Demons would do well to get something to do in the shooting phase...

However, the fluff makes it pretty clear that Mandrakes aren't any more psychically attuned than the average DE, and Path of the Archon shows that they're capable of pledging their soul to a particular God, while daemons have their allegiance predefined from the moment of their inception, and...oh who am I kidding, this is GW. They can't even be bothered to keep their poster child's fluff coherent.

Didn't they remove the daemon keyword from mandrakes? I don't have my index handy but, i thought they took it off both Khymerae and Mandrakes.

Yep, no daemon keyword for either in the index. Mandrakes are INFANTRY, MANDRAKES and Khymerae are BEAST, KYHMERAE, with both having just AELDARI, DRUKHARI as their faction keywords.
