so i just had a DE game and i put beasts in front of my raider to meatshield it but then my enemie said if you can draw a sightline that isnt interfered with any models you can shoot at the bigger target and because the raider is bigger than RW flocks he said he could shoot at it?
is that true? and if you lets say have a unit hide behinde terrain but one of them is modeld to have his gun holding up makin him bigger andetting tiny tiny bit stick over the peace of terrain can you shoot that unit/model?
thanks

Models rarely block LOS in 8e. If you can see any part of the target model from any part of your model then you can shoot at it. Screening is largely to prevent assaults or 'deep strikes', not shooting.

It can be achieved, but mostly with Imperial vehicles (big blocks of plastic), and not so much with ours.

Terrain is our best bet at blocking LOS. Beasts help to escort you, and keep your previous vehicles out of plasma rapid fire/assault shenanigans, but even with the Imperium's refrigerator shaped vehicles, it's hard for them to block LOS on even the smallest targets.

If you want to do something like this I suggest creating a themed army where everything has a banner, make sure the banners of your meatshields are huge and unit's behind it cannot be seen when they are in front.

But truth to be told, yeah, you cannot really hide from shooting in most cases.

I'm imagining an on-foot Kabal where the Kabalites have giant fans and banners, and the Trueborn and Archon have hover-thrones to ride around on...
