| So this happened... Chapter Approved pts changes. Test game using pretty much 100% court of the Archon models. List was made up of a Battalion, Vanguard and supreme command. 10x Archon (Blaster, Agoniser, Phantasm) 20x Medusa 20x Ur'ghul 10x Sslyth 3x5 Kabalites 60 individual characters! We played ETC mission 1. Game ended turn 6 at a 10:10 draw. Turn 5 I'd of won 12-8. Opponent was using: 2x9 Shining Spears 2x Wave Serpent Yvraine Autarch Farseer Spiritseer 2x Warlock 5x Hawks 3x5 Rangers Rest was Dark Reapers, 30 odd of them. Worked amazingly quite well. Obviously having to shoot individual characters makes the dark reapers somewhat useless. The shining spears did most of the damage. They survived 3 rounds of combat before dying but held me up for a few turns at least. Could probably do with some long range shooting but that would defeat the object. All in all interesting test against a tournament list. Quite happy with a 10-10 draw (19-19 on points). Excuse the proxied models. I do have them all but was in a rush and threw them in a box. | |

| I was thinking of 10 Medusae deepstriking in Raider with WWP. They have 9" shooting so they will be in range - 40 shots S4 Ap-2 seems like a good option. What do you think? | |

As they have to arrive more than 9" away from any enemy units, unfortunately they will be out of range. And, unlike our CWE cousins, we don't have any fancy abilities to let us get closer after deep striking. Also, the WWP does not allow vehicles, so no Raider.

| Medusa in a Venom works fine, as does them in a raider.
Prefer mine on foot though.

Can you give a fast like 2-3 sentence on a few turns? Well turn 1 i moved up and advanced everything. The Archons and Sslyth had range at that point to shoot, i killed I think 3 or 4 Shining Spears, lobbed the phantasms at them and that was about it. Sat on 4 objectives so I got 4 cards next turn. His turn 1 he moved up the spears, got all the reapers out the serpents and started shooting. I think I lost 3 or 4 Ur'Ghul to that (because they couldnt see troops so they had to shoot individual characters). He charged me with the Spears, I killed 1 on overwatch, he then killed maybe 5/6 Ur'Ghul or Medusa and I in return killed 5/6 Spears (mostly with the Archons). Turn 2 was more moving up, scoring / holding objectives, killed the Autarch with a couple of Medusa and then charging pretty much everything into the spears. I left I think 1 alive in each group. His turn 2 he took the spears out of combat, shot and smited a couple of Ur'Ghul / Medusa and tried to get my back objectives, Wave Serpents moved up to support. My turn 3 I blapped one of the Serpents with 6/7 Archons and then charged and killed it, killed the last 2 shining spears by charging them with some Ur'Ghuls I left back to prevent deep striking hawks. Moved up the other side and killed some rangers and most of the hawks. After that it was essentially can he kill everything in time, I had a lot of stuff back on my board edge as I had to deal with the 2 Wave Serpents. When the game ended I had I think 7 Archons left, 0 Medusa, 3 Ur'Ghuls and 5 Kabalites (on turn 6). He couldnt kill them all because he had to shoot them one at a time. All in all worked pretty well. If you are worried about the lack of transports think of it this way. A Venom is 80pts, which is the same as 4 Ur'Ghuls, Id rather my opponant has to shoot everything from a single unit at 1 Ur'Ghul that popping Venoms left right and center. That 10 man unit of Dark Reapers suddenly becomes rather unimportant. The only issue I would have is a kill points game. I would have to hide the entire game pretty much. In ETC rules though its a max 8 point swing on killpoints so if I figure I am 8 points down at the start of the game I can deal with that.

| The Medusa Sslyth i'd imagaine are the more important ones, so i assumed the Ghuls and Archons were mostly in front.
I also did a test kind like this, but it didnt work to well b.c they costed a bit much and i took a vehicle i understand no transports, i would have thought with good positioning on the CWE player he could kill 2 of your guys with each one of his, i mean i would have been running my dark reapers up turn 3+ to shoot, kill 1 then charge another small one. https://maddpaint.blogspot.com/2017/10/de-character-strategy-ur-ghul-pics.html
I'm going to order some Sslyth after adepticon now that they are cheaper (im going 3rd party, this guy is better than GW finecast at 1/3 the cost, i'm boycotting fine cast)

| The idea is amazing! And yes I think it can work. Damn, the thing that you need to shoot them down one by one is nasty, need to try it.
My Sslyths are Kabals mounted on Cold ones. Urghul are Ghouls, basically. And now the new Corpuscarii are a perfect base for any medusae!

| My sslyth are from China. Quality is actually very good except for the splinter Pistols. Not a huge problem, I just swapped them for kabalite arms. | |

I think you're making too much of our transports as an 8th edition index army. Maybe or maybe in this circumstance, but overall, codexed armies are pretty darn fast on foot and bolstered by stratagems and traits that take other army's abilities to close the gap way too significant. Our transports don't have the standard movement speed, weaponry, or toughness to make them all that competitive these days. Depending on the opponent, I don't think it is unheard of to not take a transport. I mean, for lore purposes it absolutely is unheard of, but not tactically these days.

It only works b.c of the character rules. Play footdar without and you wont last 2 turns. (without mass Beast/Coven I mean Kabals, Wyches, Wracks etc...)

Hardly disagree here. Venom still one of the best transport in the game. 5++ and -1 to hit are 2 of the best rules in the game for a veichle. And we are too fragile for being on foot anyway. But in this case, and only here, the Court doesn't need any transport, because you have to kill them one by one (on shoot).

| My foot list is full of scourges and mandrakes though so I get to position them so they can't be shot when deepstriking. | |
