Court of the Archon - Chapter Approved Test

I don't get how you think our transports are not worth the points?

our skimmers have changed a lot this edition, we get to move and shoot a full 14" with the guys inside, we have a durable mobile lance, we can move and shoot our heavy weapon with no penalties on our skimmers, we have a 5+ inv save.
we can pull all kinds of shenanigans in charge/HTH as our skimmers are actually really good in HTH, can fly off next turn and shoot and do the same again, locking down other squads and vehicles so they can't shoot back in retaliation.
I think they are worth every point and made them fluffy as hell to boot.

Something i was thinking off and forgot to mention.

Do you guys think it would be viable using the court as null deployment, to stop deep striking nonsense in your back field, not sure which would be best to do this, probably medusae, though that 100pts of characters won't be any use to you until late game, other than null deploy for first few turns

They can hold objectives, new missions involve holding objectives each turn.

we could lock down our backfield with characters and force them to enter on our terms... I really like that idea

Shingen, if you get the chance, would it be possible for you to use a couple of transports in the Court list and tell us how it goes?

I know you won, but it's hard to look at a list with 10 Archons without one of my eyebrows raising into orbit.

Not likely no, they would just get shot down first and be a total waste of pts. Id rather take 4 Ur'Ghul, they are harder to kill.

Actually I drew. Although, given we had been playing ETC rules I would have won if not for killpoints.

I played another game last night and lost 11-9 on ETC Points (23-22 PTS TOTAL). Again I would have won if not for killpoints (-8 basically is the max and you are going to get that EVERY game).

If you are not playing ETC rules or Killpoints from the book then the list is perfectly viable.

Good fun to play as well...

I ordered a few reaper minis to see how they look, and i think with two more arms you get a really good replacement

They are a littel smaller just an FYI. getting some kabal bits tho will make them look more DE ish and they do work well.

Speaking of the court, I feel it could use some expansion. A dedicated assassin type character maybe?

We have that, IN one of the old codexes the Lahmeans were called assasin I think.
It is just that they suck at their job.

Yeah, I think the Lhamaeans could be redone as assassins. It would give them an actual role.


Otherwise, I'd rather have a Mandrake HQ as an assassin, rather than expanding the Archon's Court. However, this is just my personal opinion - and is probably predicated on my having basically no interest whatsoever in the Court.

Expanding the Archon's court could be done. There was a lot of talk about a Null Slave generating an anti-psycher aura. Would be cool and fluffy.

Lhamaeans could be assassins. Or give better poison to your troops. They could do something.

Lhamaeans used to be our best HQ! At 10 points they were so cheap you could get entire extra squads with the savings!

I thought GW took that away because they didn't want 8th edition to be about Token HQs.

Then they dropped the price of Warlocks. So i was wrong, and they make no sense at all.

If they don't want token HQs, don't make our HQs so bad at their jobs that their squad leader equivalents outclass them!
