| So after several weeks of repeatedly testing out lots of different schemes, I've finally settled on a color scheme for my kabal. Still lots of work to do though, I haven't settled on a background or name for my kabal yet, but hopefully will have that figured out soon. Here is my first warrior: https://imgur.com/a/8QUuC
Pretty simple theme really, just abaddon black base with eshin grey and dawnstone highlights, with ushabti bone/flayed one flesh for the helmet. I experimented a lot with black and greys along with mixing in purple but I think the nice simple scheme I settled on suits me well. Not sure what to do with the bases though, was thinking maybe a grey debris/moons surface feel, could definetly use some suggestions there.
I plan on trying to update my log every couple weeks to keep me honest and make sure I'm regularly working on my dark eldar, as I'm determined to get a solid force painted up within the next few months. Haven't really run a project like before so I'll have to get a better set up for pictures in the future. Started work on a venom so that will be up next.

| Always neat to see a new project log.
Your Kabalite looks like the Ulthwe colour scheme at a quick glance. Perhaps some tie in with Craftworlders possible?

| Thanks man. You know I didn't notice that until I started working on my venom yesterday and I was painting the main body of the vehicle black and some outer sections bone that my scheme is quite similar to Ulthwe. Completely accidental but doesn't really bother me, it's a nice scheme anyway. Don't have any plans to add in our craftworld brethren just yet but down the road who knows, there's always Yinarri to consider diving into. | |

| High contrast works with Kabalites too. And with vehicles: for example bone coloured sails or bone prows for the easy jokes...
That connection with Ulthwe... Some fortunate encounter with Eldrad in the past? Some foreboding vision? You have material there.
Regarding the bases I was wondering the same - Debris/moon ground looks a perfect, simple, elegant solution which won't take the look out of the warriors.

| I mean honestly I don't care too much about a connection to Ulthwe, as you said the high contrast just looks great so I just want to use that.
Still working on the bases, I've been experimenting with astrogranite but I feel like the bases need something else as well.

| So my Kabal proceeds apace, fairly slowly still but the new of our upcoming codex is inspiring me to get working more. So I'm a little over half way done with my first warrior suad, hope to have them complete within the next week, plus I've been experimenting with schemes for wytches. My venom is also done and I'm very happy with how it turned out: https://imgur.com/a/T7VVV About 95% done, I eventually want to paint a symbol on the banner but I don't know what that symbol will be yet.
Once the warriors are finished next item on my list is a raider, since I'm up to two raiders/two ravagers I want to figure out my scheme for both. Venom was pretty straightforward as far as a scheme went, but mixing the black/bone white seems a bit more tricky, so I'd love to hear some ideas. Also considering painting the sails blood red to match with the red gauntlets I've been giving my warriors, or maybe the brighter red I used for the venom banner. It's tempting to start on the raider right away, but I'm trying to restrain until the full ten man warrior unit is finished.

| Making some very good progress recently, my raider is now mostly done, just some touch up work to do. I also think I will add more highlight on the black area, don't think I've done enough just yet. I ended up going for more white than I originally planned, but I think it turned out very well. Also realized I need to get a better lighting arrangement for pictures. My first warrior squad is also nearly done, it will be up by the end of the weekend. Next up is some blasterborn and a ravager, hoping to get those done within the next two weeks. | |

| Well done, bud. I'm a fan of the Bone/White color you're using in addition to black and red. It really pops on the helms of your warriors and panels of your vehicles. Maybe some blood splatter on some blades or hull patches? That might add some depth without shading and stay within your color scheme. Either way, Looks great. Keep it up! | |

| Thanks for the compliments! Unfortunately been very busy recently which has slowed down my progress, but I'm hoping to get back to my regular painting schedule soon. Blood platter is a good idea, I'll give that a shot once I've settled on the highlights for the raider. | |

| So March was a pretty terrible month for my painting, got almost nothing done, but April is turning out to be the exact opposite so far. The release of our new codex really inspired me to get working. My razorwing is mostly done, little touch up work on the hull left to do, and I also have a ravager, another venom and 10 wyches also approaching completion. Hoping to keep the momentum going so I can get up to almost half the army painted within the next month or so. Also decided I wasn't a fan of the standard archon model, so I needed to make my own. My archon is going to come from a background as a hellion, so I wanted a much more dynamic pose, and I think I achieved that. Since he's usually going to be armed with the djinn blade and the famed savagery trait I think he fits perfectly. Not sure about the head though yet, I'll keep looking for something I really like, maybe try the fantasy dark elf range. Suggestions would be most welcome. | |

| Love the look of the fighter with the contrasting panels...did you consider doing a red ink on the canopy? That might be an awesome look given your color scheme - maybe on a Voidraven, like so? Also, I just finished converting a similar model to your Archon, only as a Succubus. Evil ("Great") minds think a like i suppose! The Scourge legs are just fantastic for dynamic poses and your model is a great example. I hope to post some pics to my log soon, as I too have had a rather unproductive month of March. Keep up the great work, bud! | |

| @Benmet: thanks man, yeah the legs are from the scourge kit. Those specific legs might actually work better for a succubus, but my archon has risen up to his current station from being a hellion so I think it fits. Damn that red ink canopy looks sweet! Any idea how that was done? I'd have to redo my canopies but that's not big deal to make them look like that. Evil minds think alike indeed, can't go wrong with the scourge legs for a conversion. Looking forward to seeing your conversion. Power from pain man, it's tough to keep up painting that much but we can do it! I'll have some more progress to report on by the end of the week. | |

| Really dig how clean and crisp the bone is on your vehicles. I'd never considered doing some of the panels or wing tips in a different colour so may have to try something similar but I love how much yours pop with the contrast against the black. It's a pretty simple scheme but comes together incredibly nicely. Definitely think adding the red ink canopies would be top notch though! Also I do love how dynamic you can make models look with wych and scourge legs | |

| Thanks man appreciate the compliments. Definitely going to look into doing red ink canopies.
Yeah the scourge legs were real handy, definetly fits my archon who will be using the famed savagery trait most of the time.

| Hey Asvaldir, here's a great video on a method i've used for "inking" my canopies. Pretty simple and I'm sure with multiple coats, you could achieve a darker tint (like the example pic I posted yesterday). The video is obviously green but I know red inks are out there from Tamiya and others. Hope it works out well for you!
