New Girl Trueborn from Raging Heroes

The helmets make me think of the aliens from Independence Day.

(Not a criticism, just an observation.)


Quite honestly though, I don't think I'm the target audience for these models. The precise gender of my Trueborn is of marginal interest at best, and I just don't consider it worth the expense of buying special models for them.

For what it's worth, I actually much prefer their helmet design to the cone-heads we're stuck with. What I dislike is the stupid, over-the-top hair. Their leader in particular appears to be making a spirited effort to recreate the Tower of Babel on top of her head.

(And before you ask, yes, I dislike the hair on a lot of our own models as well.)

Ridiculous hair is as much a part of 40k as it is Final Fantasy.

Perhaps, but there are some types/styles of ridiculous hair that just rub me the wrong way.

I absolutely loathe the heels on the new Raging heroes lines. They are all terrible. TGG1 wyches are way better imo, I also agree with calyptra about cheesecake and prefer the wrack/guardsman image to the old stuff.

the void elves on stingrays are just plain cool if you're going in this direction already. I've been thinking about finding a use for their beastmaster model which has a completely different form factor from ours, thoughts?

Yeah, heels are completely over the top. Completely, like insane. If you look closer those are not even heels, they are dagger heels. Hilarious.

Maybe they're just on their way to the club

Can't really say I like them. I feel like it doesn't really mesh with the GW models, and I'm not a fan of the aesthetic in general. I think they tried to capture the nostalgic oldhammer feeling that Angst is referring to, but they failed horribly IMO. It's like GW blandness mixed with new power metal, instead of the much beloved Blanche and 80's metal album cover styles.

If you don't mind me asking, are there any non-GW sculpts that you think would fit in better with the Blanche/80s metal style?

To be honest, I don't think even golden era old-GW models captured the feeling of the art adequately. Some people think that the old models do, but without the nostalgia they just look a bit shi... poop. I admit that they have character, though. The best examples of the old art-style that I've seen are conversions, although they cover the blanche part much better than the album cover style.
