Preorders for our Codex and new Start Collecting box next week!

I suppose in the ideal world if GW was truly going to properly represent DE as three separate factions, we would have three full blown separate codexes with full on separate roosters for all three factions, but there just isn't enough popularity in DE for GW to justify that kind of investment, plus if the past few months are any indication there are several other likely more popular new sub armies in the works like a world eaters codex. Instead we're left with this new raiding force system which yeah I guess is a slight bend in the rules which allows us to run all three subfations together, but hey I think it is the best we could hope for. We could have gotten a treatment similar to daemons where it's just 4 separate factions that don't mix as easily, yeah you can't take separate detachments to mix daemons but I'm very happy GW has made it easier for us to mix and match units by giving us the raider force.

Though, there's one thing that will, in my opinion, make the split passable, even if it isn't ideal.
If all of our vehicles (Ravager and our Fliers) become available to all three subfactions, I think we'll be okay.

Kabal has a monopoly on our anti-tank, and if the other two can get access to our staples of it, I think we'll be alright

Actually.... it's 4 extra command points. As each patrol detachment is worth zero.

I'm assuming you're comparing it to a battalion detachment plus the patrol detachment of harlequins. In which case you're comparing apples to shoes.

Kidding aside. To early to tell what they may or may not have done to change said wyches, to auras etc. to say whether they will be a viable option or not. I would NOT think they'd be better than harlequins. Nor should they be. But they should be significantly cheaper than said harlequins. Don't know if they'll be cheaper enough or not.

Might as well throw my two cents in as well. As a casual player, I’m already really happy with just the tidbits we got today. Even if we just got copy pasted rules from other Codexes I’d be happy. As it stands we’re looking at a lot of potential changes and buffs if we receive the same treatment that other factions got

1) Stratagems
2) Army wide rules
3) Unit stat/point changes
4) weapon stat/point changes
5) Relics
6) upgrade changes

Even when we were back in the opening days of 8th, with just indexes, we were able to hold our own. Now that they’re moving our starting line up to where everyone else is, we should be able to give just about every army in the game a run for their money.

Personally I’m a fan of them splitting us up into the 3 seperate factions. It’ll allow GW to make seperate rules that are fluffy and powerful without having to worry about how it’ll be abused for the other factions. Even if the tournament rules of only 3 detachments stays a thing, just take 2 patrols and a brigade. Oh you want to do Coven grotesque heavy or Kabal Trueborn? Vanguard detachment. Wych cult? Outrider detachment. Talos or Ravager spam? Spearhead. And guess what? Now those 2 extra patrols don’t have to suffer from needing the Kabal detachment rules on your main Battalion, they can have their own. THATS DOPE AND HYPE AF.

With all the changes still on the way, it’s too early to complain about anything yet. I’m super hyped for this Codex and hoping for the best. I’m hoping we get a 6 and 11 transport cap for our Venoms and Raiders. I’m hoping our melee gets buffed, I’m hoping for better auras. I’m hoping we get a better and balanced army without being overwhelming to the point of fun-killing. Will there be any big radical changes? No probably not. Is that ok? Yes. Factions and their units should not have every single option for them be balanced. Just because you can make a Khorne shooting army doesn’t mean that it should be competitive. If you wanted to play a Chaos shooting army, go play Tzeentch.

As an aside. ESE went out of his way to emphasize “A CODEX”. I think this can be interpreted a number of ways, choose your favorite.
1) The Drukhari at the end of the day are Drukhari, we are not a Harlequin supplement. We are strong enough to stand on our own.
2) The CODEX at the end of the day is just another codex. A step up from the Index to be sure but we’re just par with the other Codexes.

If there was any people I'd put trust into for the new DE codex being good/fluffy/fun, it'd be Lawrence from TTT and ESE.

@barrywise totally agree. It's food to see everyone isn't expecting some massive change and actually taking time to consider the information released.

New start collecting box will be cool; always do with some more troops; we gear any rumours about new models though?

Unfortunately there's no chance of us getting new models, if we were GW would have announced it already like how they announced necrons were getting a new cryptek in the forgebane kit weeks before it came out. Plus GW has a very full release schedule ahead of them with the announcement of the new AoS army and 3 more codexes so there's basically no way we are anything more than a one week release wave.

Or 3 Grots, 10 wracks, a talos and a haemi for a start collecting box ... A little bit of everything the coven offers

Starting box should come with 1 heamy 5 wracks, 1 succubus 10 wyches and 1 archon 10 kabalites

Hell no. Vehicles are needed, and I don't like being forced to play a subfaction.

Im starting with Drugshari and today i ordered "old" Starter set and i will preorder new one This will be nice start ,isnt it ? ?

I think that is a very good start. Spice it up with a ravager and a jetfighter, and you should have a nasty, little raiding force.

What time are the preorders up and is it Sat or Sunday?
