1500 against tau

Hello everybody,
Now that my job situation is calming down (passed the tests) and my Trueborn too (going to kindergarten in 3 weeks) I want to start Warhammer again and a friend of mine just had birthday and got the tau codex.
We are planning a 1500 points game on Saturday and I'm not sure what I should take.
I'm torn between that following army list and substituting the scourges for 9 grotesque. I don't know how I could incorporate them into detachments though:
(Sadly, I don't own enough witches to create a battalion with them but them and several ravager are in my long term list)

This is a kinda odd list. I feel like you are trying to hard to make use of the Alliance of Agony strat.

First off, you have far, far to many transports. I do note you said you want to get into the game again, so I will point out a rule new to 8th - you can fit as many squads into transports as it has space for. You could drop both raiders and still fit all your HQ's into a single venom. TBH - I would not suggest it at all.

Starting with your Kabal - this is fairly decent. 4 min-max warrior squads are fairly strong choice. I think the court is a waste, but it's not the worst thing ever. And I typically prefer raiders over venoms, but vs Tau the extra -1 to hit can really hurt them...

Moving on to your cult.... I am confused. This is a supreme command of just Succubus? I'd cut this entire detachment faster than you can blink. Succubi are decent, but really only shine with good relics and warlord traits and drugs. In your case, this is far too much an investment for far to little return, not to mention Tau love when you charge single models at them as their overwatch can be brutal...

Dropping them gives you more than enough points to flesh out the Grots and / or wracks if you have them. Alternatively, Ravagers or Razorwing Jetfighters are also good investments.

I would say accept your are not going to get the full use out of Alliance of Agony and realize that just taking one additional warlord trait is more than any other army can do.

If you want to list out what units you have to use, I'd be happy to help construct a better list.

But I did need all 3 types to use the alliance of agony or I can't use it at all.

And I only own 5 witches and no wracks. I'm an old school player where I could just put my grotesque with the Kabal.

I was thinking about charging the transports in first to soak up overwatch and to bind him with the Succubus in a second charge.

Perfect fit: I dropped the supreme command detachment and added 9 grotesque. Ready for web way deep strike! >

The alliance of agony strat reads, "Use this Stratagem before the battle if your warlord is an Archon. Choose up to one Haemonculus and up to one Succubus..."

The up to means you don't have to pick one. So you can still use it and give your hamey a WL trait too.

I think the 9 Grots will serve you better in that list - be interested to hear how it goes
