Ever since the harlequins book came out, I've been running some variation of a freakshow list that has all 3 aeldari factions, focused on leadership debuffs. So far it's undefeated but I'll admit I haven't been playing against competitive lists nor have I played against every faction.

The list revolves around Dark Creed covens, which need raiders for pgls, Silent Shroud harlies, and Alaitoc craftworlds with access to hemlocks and farseers.

Without further ado here's the latest incarnation

Dark Creed Battalion - 776p

Haemy w/ whip

5 Wracks w/ ossefactor, venom blade

Raider w/ dissie, pgl, shock prow

3 Talos w/ 2x Haywire, chain flail, macro-scalpel

Alaitoc Battalion - 705p
Farseer (Doom, Mind War)
Warlock (usually jinx)
Hemlock (horrify)
5 Rangers
5 Rangers
8 Storm guardians
Wave serpent w/ twin shuriken cannon, shuriken cannon, vectored engines, spirit stones

Silent Shroud Patrol - 519
Shadowseer (Shard of Light, Mirror of Minds) (Warlord - Player of Twilight)
5 Troupe w/ 2x fusion, 2x kiss
Star Weaver
Death Jester
3 Skyweavers w/ 3x haywire, 3x zephyrglaive

So I've come to appreciate the dual battalion for the cp, and rangers for midfield screening, objective holding. Wracks absolutely need a gun, otherwise I've found them to be utterly useless.

Harlie bikes are amazing, especially with the ignore overwatch strategem plus their physical size. I've held up two units of oblits, 2 rhinos, a sorcerer and lord with the 3 of them. And then I did 9 wounds to the rhino when it fell back. Also found haywire on the talos to be the best choice, not sure about their melee though, they usually die or I win before they punch anything.

Death jesters have been underwhelming. I previously ran a vanguard detachment with 2 and a solitaire and they did basically nothing. Maybe against guard they'd be better, but I'm avoiding more than one unless it's in a dreaming shadow detachment.

I've got a couple other insights, but I'd like to know what you all think of the list or the style in general, or any tweaks that can be made. Right now I'm mulling taking out the harlequins troupes and replacing them with more bikes for an outrider.

I'm really into the idea of freakshow with some of these tools but I think the leadership debuffs shouldn't be the only focus.

Just because each Aeldari faction has some access to freakshow tricks does not mean ALL of these options fit together as well as they seem. I don't think the Harlequins add much to this list or are really focussed enough...I think you should either go back to the Vanguard or focus on an Outrider detachment with more Skyweavers, to shore up your lack of firepower.

I think if your model collection allows it, you should just lose the Harlies altogether and double down with the Dark Creed. A Tantalus or a few Reapers could be a REALLY fun conversion project for this Coven, and not only provide some great fire support but also take advantage of the Dark Creed trait.

I think you should TRY to run the Wracks as tough screening units on foot as if you were a Prophets of Flesh detachment....coupled with the Rangers in the midfield it could be really frustrating to navigate around; no they don't have 4++, but they're still T5/5++/6+++ and might provide more bang for their buck this way rather than drifting in a Raider. Or get really experimental and take some Liquifier Guns and Advance the hell out of those Raiders...your Obsession is only any good if you're up close and personal anyways tongue

Ultimately, I just find the Harlies pull focus and are just there because they have a leadership debuff trait.

I do agree that the harlies aren't being used the best in this list but I think they're still quite valuable to the list mechanics. I can flip the troupe+transport to 4 bikes for about the same cost and make it an outrider.

I don't have access to forgeworld and personally believe that if they ever put out actual rules that the reaper won't be a coven unit. I have tossed the idea of a tantalus around but I want the raiders because that's the only way covens can have PGLs, and I can't afford the coven detachment to get too bloated if I want the cp. I did run a black heart detachment for PGLs prior to the harlie book but I prefer clown bikes and characters, and since I'm working in a 3 detachment limit I haven't looked back.

More wracks could work, that t5 has helped shrug off many a bolter. I've just been running them msu for the stacking dark creed. If a raider runs up and drops 2 units that's a -3ld right there no problem.
