| What the title says. FW finally has converted their online sales to match the currency of those viewing it, in the same way the official GW store does.
However, they've used this to mark up prices by about 20-50% across the board.
They've presented this as a good thing, citing reduced shipping costs and no currency conversion fee (about $2 USD, on average). In their minds, $10 savings > $60 Arbitrary Markup.
And on top of that, they're doing their best to hide negative comments on Facebook.
There's a recaster in China that's very, very, happy right now, that's all I'm going to say.

| Forgeworld products are basically Giffen goods, the elasticity of their pricing is so minimal that they can probably hike the price without losing too many sales. | |

| Regional markups of that magnitude are wrong, but also completely normal for New Zealand, and I understand Australia too.
I wonder if the extra unrest because it is happening in a bigger market like the USA will make a difference?

Most definitely. Something key to note is that the U.S. has a population a little under three and a half times that of the U.K., New Zealand, and Australia combined. I don't know the prevalence of wargaming here compared to the rest of the world, but every shop I've been to has quite a few Forgeworld models being played. I'll tell you right now FW is going to lose a lot of customers from this, whether the price hike will cover their departure remains to be seen.

| What I find interesting is that these prices are already what they were charging at US events, and their sales booths usually have had huge lines at the events I’ve attended. I wonder if those people just never did the math, or just never wanted any FW items bad enough to get them from the UK, but would splurge in person. | |

still its shady as all hell You know what's worse? The free shipping is for a limited time only, the price hikes are permanent. Additionally, their free shipping is at an order total of $120, and a lot of their products, that weird Imperium drill thing comes to mind, are priced at $115-119

| 40K and AoS gamers may find fault at FW for doing this.
LotR/Hobbit gamers - while a minority - are at least partially dependent on FW, as all new models will come through them, not GW. This is right when a new edition of the game is about to launch, making it hurt even more.

| Welp, good thing I have a fantastic secondary source for anything FW I may need.
There is a lot of outrage about this online, but we probably should have expected it based on their convention and catalogue pricing. They basically took their old 15% shipping rate (that no one ever paid due to vouchers or bulk orders), doubled it, and baked it into the price. Swell.
As it is, I would only order models from them if they weren’t available from the couple of recasters I consider good quality (Tantalus) or it was something new I wanted immediately (Alpharius and Skoria). Now I can say I pretty much have anything I’ll ever need from FW and will just wait for the recasters for all future releases.
At least the books only went up a tad.

| I will likely buy some Chaos cheerleaders for trophies on my boats, and the Tantalus didn't really go up in price at all so maybe another of those if their points are corrected. | |

| i mean i dont get, we as a wargaming community cant be that stupid to pay these prices, right? they have to know that no one buying anything will cost them more than they earn woth this ploy?
one would think a miniature company would actually produce and sell miniatures, but no Recasters and sites like victoria and anvil industry are doing fine with the business model they have, why isnt gw making anything like that? they could make models and upgrade sprues and people would buy them instantly but no, more marines, and more chaos marines, plastic versions of fw stuff would sell like crazy, or am i wrong about that? if 10 Krieg guardsmen would cost 25€ who would not buy them? opposed to 55! guard conversions, eldar corsairs, squats for crying out loud ( i personally hate them but i know a certain demographic that would rip them out of GWs greedy cold hands) they have the potential but do nothing with it, instead we get a trickled in release from necromunda for how long now? the half assed relesae of age of crap 2 in the summer where no one plays, and now the lord of the rings, which i am the only one playing i suppose, from FW, who makes the ridiculous prices from the hobbit on GW even more ridiculous.
