Hey all,

Long time lurker first time poster. Been out of 40k for about 6 or 7 years now. However with the advent of 8th ed Fantasy and the sheer numbers playing 40k in my area Im so getting me a slice of the round based action Very Happy

Been trying to hash out a decent DE army wondering what you guys think. Got the codex and some bits and pieces to work on so whaddya think fellow Archons?

Even if it is... 2 x 3 wracks? That is quite a giveaway unit... can't do CC, shooting is quite weak... the only point is that it scores? 1 casualty will make you check LD...

Unless its "I'm 30 points short... I'll throw in 3 wracks" I wouldn't quite see it.

Except it's 55 points. Or more likely 110 points, which can buy decent Squad with flamer.

Anyway.... cookie-cutter time!

Haemonculus - I would pick 2, with Webway Portal. 2 because You want set one on turn 1 (anywhere... far from edge) and have another in "better" spot (probably You can't get there on turn 1).

Trueborn - add Lance and go foot, add Venom if You like some AI.

10 Man Wracks units - Scissor Hand is NOT PW. Either drom Acolyst altogether (+25 points) or pick Agoniser (IMHO drop him).

3 man Wrack units - don't work.

Wyches - I guess Haemonculus go here. Pretty Ok except You probably want transport for them. Hydra Gauntlets (and Rarorflails) are basically Wyches attacks (ok) without taking Wyches bodies (really not ok). I would pick Shardnets (utility upgrade) or max girls You can take instead. Also, how about Hekatrix with PW, that's 20 points. Actually... split them, pick Riders, deliver WWPs.

Warriors - wrong type of list IMHO. Split them, give Blaster + SCannon and pack in Raider, it's nasty combo for capturing objectives.

Beasts - it's perfect

Heavy - Good.... if You have Webway Portal.

Thanks for the comments and advice all,

I was not going to put any WWP in the list. I can see the benefit of including them however. I was not aware the Talos and Cronos could chill in the web. The main idea behind the list was get as many troops on the table as possible that have FNP!

I know the units of 3 wracks are a bit small but the idea was to hide them and mainly use them as Hex Rifle caddies and extra units to hold objectives on my side of the table, also more FNP dudes!

The Wyches are in because they are the first unit I bought and painted, once I have more choices they will probaly be dropped in favour of extra warriors. (10 with a Dark Lance and Blaster is the same points)

Are Power Weapons and Agonisers still that important in 40k? I remember back in 3rd ed i used to say "Power Weapons win assaults everything else just adds sound effects" but those 10 man Wrack units throw out alot of poisend CC attacks.

Thanks for the advice though it has been years since I played a bit of the old grimdark and I appreciate it. Ill try get some pics of the stuff Ive got painted so far up in the gallery later tonight.

Power weapons are vital. If You fight 3+ armour with FNP (standard Blood Angels troops) then denting them with normal attacks is hard.

Sadly, Mech armies win this game. I think we actually can get over this with WWP, however You wtill need to deliver it.

This is why I adviced 2 Raiders for Wyches - rules allow You to move 12", disembark (with Haemonculus only, leaving Paint Token) within 2" (add 1" base to that) and place 3" portal template.
Basically this allow moving Your board edge up to 30" forward (12" deployment zone + 18"))

I'm not sure if Power Weapons are vital - but you certainly need to have a plan for any assault unit going up against 3+ armor, and if the assault unit doesn't have that plan it is probably not an assault unit worth having.

Thanks for the advice again. Ill play around with the list and see what else I can come up with.

However the following are finished (painted and based) so will probaly be included in any future list.

3 units of 3 Trueborn with 1 Dark Lance per unit

2 units of 10 Wracks with 2 Liquifier Guns per unit

2 units of 3 Wracks with 1 Aco w Hex Rifle per unit

10 Wyches

1 Haemonculus
