GW is basically turning 40k into the miniatures equivalent of Magic: The Gathering for better or for worse. There's gold in them thar hills and phasing out old models/armies and forcing players to stay current by buying new product to maintain a competitive edge is just the kind of meta churn that gets people to spend their entire paychecks before a GT. This is also why the painting tips have been less aimed at "here's how to have a high quality, intricately painted model" and more "here's how to slap-dash some painted minis so you have a 3 color minimum ready for the tournament". Seriously, look at the quality of Duncan videos from, say, a couple years ago to today, it's absolute night and day difference. I've been thinking this as well...would also explain the move to single pose, very nice miniatures...

| If Ynnari get a codex I can't wait till they can drop soulburst with a psychic power and then again with a strat and then also get unique faction bonuses like one that gives vehicles access to soulburst and then also get another strat that lets them soulburst the same unit twice a turn and then also get a warlord trait that gives extra range to the soulburst radius.
You think it's a strawman but search your feelings, you know this is true.

Luckily, I have all of the above in metal, from right before they switched fully over to finecast. The only one I don't have in metal is Urien. I don't think the new model was ever made in metal...

I have a metal (current sculpt) Urien. He was rolled out in the 2nd wave of 5th ed DE models. However, he was on display when the first images of the new DE line were released.

Gotcha, I must've missed my opportunity then. He was finecast only by the time I picked him up, which wasn't too long. I'm just happy to have metal khymerae and Incubi. I also have finecast Incubi and they're garbage. All of their swords hang limp. I can only imagine how much the tongues, tentackes, and pinchers snap off the khymerae.

| My guess is that every one of our resin casts will be either straight replaced with plastic or get new plastic kits (I'm hoping the latter for Drazhar). As for each faction getting a LoW I want to be optimistic. Think about how much attention GW has paid to the Sisters as their model line and codex gets revamped. I think one of the many things GW wants to change about its image is that it cares about the relatively small player-base armies too (such as Sisters) which is why they're making such a big deal about it. I could see them coming up with an overpowered LoW for each codex that is a "must buy" for competitive play, but since every codex will be getting one (at least that doesn't have access to one already) GW will try to spin it as "hey look how just we are giving every faction their own cool thing!" and if they do go with this strategy I imagine they will announce that they are doing so when they release whatever model they want to release first. I believe they did this a little when they released the Knights and the Wraithknight and the Riptide all around vaguely the same time (at least that was how I remember it). This is all just a stab in the dark. | |

| They had an opportunity to give us our own Lord of War when they first started making the big stuff like Knights, Wraithknights, Stormsurges etc. All they did was lazily and insultingly tell us that we could use a Wraithknight. I really wouldn't put any money on us getting a new big model anytime soon. | |

Or put any money on this game period. They've been doing us dirty with this edition, the meta has changed more in the past 2 years then perhaps in the last 10. Meta churn is designed to generate constant revenue stream and once it starts it never stops. The only way to not get caught in the money stream is to not buy in or find alternative ways of procuring models. My collection is at a point now where I can essentially "swap" models on ebay, while my FLGS offers used models for a decent discount if it comes to that.

| Well this rumor got the Apoc 8th edition right so there seems to be more merit too it. I don't want to get my hopes up but we really need Vect and the Dais. It would be great if they could throw in Lady Malys, Baron, and Duke to help our HQ situation out. I'm not looking for a big release but something that lets us mono codex list builders have some variety and not depend on craftworld (blah) or Ynari (blah blah) | |

| imo the only hope we have (yeah hope dies last) is a mini campaign like Vigilus with Drukhari vs Thousand sons or Slaanesh (since we got new models incoming and all) or whatever... other than that there is zero chance this edition that we get something...
...or they can just totaly screw us over and reveal the new born Vect as an avatar of Slaanesh or something and give him to chaos hohohohoho

| Yeah. Looks like the only way we are going to get new characters is via new campaign warzones. Granted, GW has stated that they have plans for several new warzones. However, I was disappointed at the lack of special detachments for us in Vigilus, considering that DE had a presence there (I'm really hoping for a good hellion/bike-based specialized detachment at some point).
Really, I'm not as interested in getting Vect as I am getting some of our other characters (The Baron, The Duke, Malys, Decapitator) back.
Though a new Dais of Destruction would be great.

Yep, Vigilus is done now. Ablaze was the last book for it.

| There will be other campaigns anyway, and hopefully one will at least prominently feature dark eldar where we can hope for a new character or model of some other sort. Wouldn't count on it happening soon though, unfortunately our army has never been the most popular and I would expect the more popular xenos armies to get updates first. | |

| It's basically the upper half of a wraithknight grafted onto the body of a giant spider.

| I was making a Harlequins one with 2 Troupes holding large guns (like D-cannons) sitting on circus trapeze, its about 1/2 down... but i cant bring myself to finish it b.c i no longer like WK's for double D, i already have a Sword and shield one and i'd rather play that. The WK is just to easily killed, it only gets 1 turn on the table. | |
