| Hi, in our 1500pt tournament a savvy Tau player is bringing in 'The 8'.
They're all specialised battlesuits, they're all characters.
So targeting is going to be a pain except against the Riptide character. (there's already another Riptide, and a Coldstar in this army)
Any suggestions?
I'm running pure Drukhari, 12 bikes which have had a lot of success, looking to have 2 Ravagers(dis), 2 Raiders(dis, 20 Kabalites) with 4x Shredders on board, a Razorwing(dis), Archon with 3 Sslyth & Venom, Succubus, 10 Mandrakes.
I could swap a Ravager & Raider & squad of Kabalites & Mandrakes for 3 Talos and a Haemonculus.
Tactical advice wold be great as i'd love to take them on with my space yachts, but realise I'm up against it!

| I'd start by taking a second Archon and ensuring your 20 kabalites are split into at least 3 squads (if they're not already) so that you can get the CP for a battalion.
Not much you can do in terms of targeting characters. Just focus your dakka to take them down one at a time if you have to.
The RWJF you can at least zoom past to his back field and be able to target at least one of the characters by making sure he's closest. But if your opponent is savvy it won't be hard for him to prevent that.

Thanks, yeah I'm considering dropping the Mandrakes and adding a small squad in a Venom with a Shredder as well as a traffic directing Archon. I think I'll still be clearing his bubblewrap fire warriors(3squads), scouts and drones out when my army is tabled. Is it worth taking a Spearhead with 3 Talos and a Haemonculus with a Vexator mask?

| Remember that characters dont block other characters anymore so he cant protect them with anything but the other RIP tide. | |

Thanks for the advice, so I just have to clear out the 'chaff'. Turns out he's 'upgrading' the existing Riptide to become the character when we move to 1500pts, so thankfully I'm only facing one.

| This is the sort of enemy list where a freakshow would excel. Just hit them with a load of Ld debuffs and watch them melt. | |

| Yeah you could easily nuke a character or two a turn depending on your build. The only caveat is that you'd need to be taking harlies/craftsworlds, pure DE wouldn't work very well for freakshow vs character heavy armies. | |

| I guess if you had the opportunity, this would be the time to shine for the coven of twelve and poisoned tongue relics to shine. | |

| Thanks for the input people!
What's a 'freak show'??? Am guessing a Ld draining army?
Here's the plan: Turn 1 will be Venoms and Razorwing hitting drones and heavy suits.(Reflexes on the Razorwing to make it a -2 distraction) Bikes zipping around back to distract/shoot exposed heavy suits... maybe drop an eviscerating flyby on his infantry guy with the markerlight. Am thinking I'm going to hammer the mobility and clear his screening infantry/drones down one side of his (predicted) castle. Will drop 2 Raiders in on turn 2 for this.(4 shredders, 2 Splinter Cannons) Dissies on boats to hit exposed characters. Same turn will drop 2 dissie Ravagers and open up on exposed characters.(second archon will be there to help with those 1's, maybe a +1 strat vs flying things?) Succubus with Shardnet & Archon with famed savagery, the Djiin blade and blast pistol and 3 Sslyth to multicharge some infantry and try to include a battlesuit. Wipe them, consolidate and pin another, and eventually die in a storm of fire but... oh the fun!
