PostSubject: Heaemonculus Coven - Would appreciate some help with creating an army list.   Heaemonculus Coven - Would appreciate some help with creating an army list. I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 07 2020, 19:11

Greetings,

It's been years since I dusted off my Haemonculus Coven units and stalled them in a nice glass display. Now looking at them on a daily basis, I can't help but feel I've neglected them for too long and they long for combat.

However, I can't even remember in which edition I played, but it's been years and now that the 9th edition is here and I haven't even looked at the Drukhari Codex, I'm overwhelmed with options on what to do and what NOT to do.

I'm aware that it's just a game and the best way of (re)learning your army is by playing it, but I'd definitely appreciate some Haemonculus Army list suggestions, that are viable in the 9th edition of 40k.

Below I will make a list of all the units that I have. I would prefer not to currently invest more money into expanding my army. Hopefully my selection of units are still somewhat viable to compete in a couple of battles without getting my ass handed to me.

2 Haemonculi
10 Wracks (2 Ossefactors + 2 Hexrifles)
6 Grotesques (4 Liquifier Guns)
2 Venoms
2 Raiders
5 Talos
1 Cronos

Looking forward to a suggestion, if possible, also on what stratagems, obsessions etc to consider.

I'm reading through the material at the moment, but I've also got my own company to run,
so again, I'm a bit overwhelmed atm. Anyway, thanks in advance.

Kind regards.

We can't really say what the 'meta' for 9th is going to be yet. We don't know all the rules, we don't know a lot of things. It's hard to justify pushing certain things (even if it's looking like a herohammer/tank spam edition).

To that end, as with all three deldar factions, there isn't too much choice. The models you've got there should work fine.
Probably run a list of the haemonculi, wracks, grotesques, talos and cronos. The transports canbe used, but probably not straight away.

If you want to start running more competitively/ an actual battalion, it would be best to pick up another box of wracks at leatst.

Coven will work great in 9th for sure. Grots/Talos/Wracks are all fine, Cronos are meh, but 1 can work to re-roll re-rolls 1s in melee.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. As for purchasing more wracks, I could perhaps, but I'm a far cry from playing competitively. For now, I just want to have fun with my buddies playing 40k.

I used to work with those special dedicated detachments, but I think they stopped using those since the 8th edition.

Greetings and you as well, thank you for the reply. I think I remember the Cronos used to increase power from pain or something, or add a +1 to feel no pain? I recall them being a bit more useful than they are right now yes. I'd still add them to the army, because there aren't that many Coven units sadly.

I'd love to see Wracks with wings, as Scourges are also Haemonculi experiments. But I digress.

as for obsessions prophets of flesh should do fine in the next edition and also give you access to Urien who can buff all coven units even more than a common Haemonculus... so id consider getting him or proxying him from a normal Haemonculus.
Also keep in mind that we got some new obsessions, some of which are cool like Dark Technomancers, in the latest GW campaign called Psychic awakening (our expansion is called Blood of the phoenix) so you might check that out as well.
Lastly id turn that Cronos into another Talos  ^_^ (should be easy to do)

oH Dark Technomancers, I do like the sound of that and getting Urien is indeed one of the last missing pieces I should definitely get. I'll keep a hold on my current Cronos. I just like the way the models look and I'm sure if enough people complain about the uselessness of what the Cronos has become, GW will probably make it useful again in the 9th Codex for the Drukhari, right?

All the units you mention are good (the weakest being the Chronos, but it buffs everything you listed, so you are golden).

No wrong choices at this point (we dont yet know what 9th will bring us, the changes to point cost will be the determining factor).

Once you get a few games in with what you have, you will need to start building your list around the game objectives. From what we can tell of 9th, many objectives will be to get to a certain spot (our fast transports are ideal for this), then survive for a while (our Coven units are ideal for this).

My $0.02 is that you got the tools to do exactly what will be needed. If you want to start painting/assembling any of that, you will not be disappointed when 9th drops later this month.
