I finally got in a game of "full" 9th, and tried out a few units. Some things I noted:
-Heat Lance Scourges are powerful, but absolutely glass-hammer. I did not Fire and Fade them correctly, and they died as you would expect. They WILL be in my next list though, that firepower that can sit in DS until needed was very nice
I think Heat Lances will grow in utility as time goes on. 3 wound Terminators and Outriders are perfect targets. You only get one damage reroll per Shooting Phase.
I was thinking of that too. I have a unit of Reavers and Talos built with them i might try out.

Heat Lances with their Damage D6 seem to be in a reasonable spot costing 10pts. I would rather a Blaster, but +5pts each really adds up.
Whoever has not yet run Sslyth, I would really recomend them. I only took 2, but they managed to do a great deal by simply existing in the right place at the right time. Not sure how well they will do once my oponents start to focus on them, but my gut tells me that a 5 man warrior squad takes about the same firepower to take down as one Sslyth.
Grotesques still monstermash as well as ever, and with Blast weapons getting the nerf against 6-10 model units, I dont regret taking them in lists either (as PoF, not sure about other Covens)

I've ran Sslyth and they just die way to fast even against weaker armies and newer players. Its just an easy kill, i take worms over them. 6pts less, -1 to be hit and 4+ save with DS abilities. I still am not 100% sure if it is RAI for unaligned in GT book (the way it is worded in it) but no one is answering me and many others are in limbo about it too.

I've only used them in friendly games. They always do well in that environment.

After many games in 9th, 1k -2k. Venoms are not worth it in Kabals other than 1 or 2 just for mobility and sitting on objectives. In DT they still can do some damage.
Poison help, this is clear. Kabal poison should be -1ap at least.
We need a Doc type thing.
Kabals re-roll wounds of 1 with poison weapons Wyches -1ap with poison Coven +1 to wound with poison
It seems weird that Kabal - the faction most reliant on poison shooting - would have by far the worst poison ability.
Surely it should be Kabal that gets -1AP with Poison?

Just an idea. I flushed is out
You pick a specialist for your army for the rest of the game, you may Pick 1 specialist and the rule from that specialist. Example You pick Poison and you take the -1ap. All poison now has -1ap for the rest of the game.
Poison specialist re-roll wounds of 1 with poison weapons -1ap with poison +1 to wound with poison
Heavy Specialist While embarked treat heavy as assault Can advance and shoot heavies as if they were assault +1 to hit if remained stationary
Raiding Specialist: "units with fly or embarked in a unit with fly" Gain +3" movement Gain a 5++ vs shooting attacks even while engaged Gain a 6" disembarked instead of 3"
