That is a great conversion. Its like the skyboard from hell! Wicked cool and can't wait to see it painted.

Thanks GAR. I love this model and hopefully I can do a paint job to justify it. The really tricky bit will be setting the perspex window into the painted sail without making a mess of either.

Hmmm, that's a very clever idea! I already replaced the original gun barrels with the slightly larger ones from regular splinter rifles, could just as easily do the same with splinter cannon barrels.

I have also been toying with the idea of a whole squad of aether surfers, after someone else did another one that's more compact, and a bit easier to put together I think. They would look great on the tabletop.

I still can't get enough of this skyboard. It is a delicious club sandwich made on winbread.

Really, really original skyboard that actually looks like it works, I can just imagine him gliding down through the storm laden clouds to swoop on his horrified prey.

I demand close ups so that I can see the Baron himself better.

I'm maybe 2/3 done, might post an update in a day or two. Taking my sweet time, for once.

But I have come to realise that the one thing I hate far above all else in this hobby is blending sails. You would think it wouldn't be that hard, with the relatively large, flat surface, and that washes would also help a lot, but I manage to faff around for ever doing this every single time and it never looks smooth.

OK, my finished pics are posted. Overall, I did not get a lot of satisfaction from this, for some reason. I'm not sure if it's RL getting in the way, or what.

There's a couple of things that are annoying the hell out of me about this model that normally wouldn't - the metallic blue wash on the hull somehow looks slightly different than all my other DE vehicles, and I simply cannot get the eyes very good. I hate painting eyes at the best of times and have had 4 goes at these ones, and the right-hand one still looks like one of those googly eyes off a cheap plushie toy.

But that's as good as I am going to get, so there it is.
