| Kabal name: Kabal of Refracted Mortality
Archon: Irriyd T’risslyn A Warrior Falls Once a servant of Asdrubael Vect himself, Irriym T’risslyn fell from grace after a disastrous real space raid on the imperial world of Valhalla. After gathering intelligence from a plethora of sources Irriyd deemed worthy; he was given command of the raid on the famous Imperial world. Vect declared it was to be Irriyd’s shining moment; a raid like none other. What was unknown to anyone in the Kabal, a trueborn by the name of Llia’ja was ascending the ranks and was jealous of Irriym’s position. He too sought the approval of Vect, and would take it from Irriyd by whatever means necessary. According to the intelligence gathered in preparation for the raid, the Imperial world had just produced its latest founding of Imperial Guardsmen; leaving the planet vulnerable in the post founding recruiting stages. Irriyd and a splinter fleet of Dark Eldar warships deployed to the system to find it exactly as It was described, free of any enemy fleet. With a smile as wide as any ever seen on his face Irriyd ordered the attack. The raiders struck hard at several small settlements on the icy planet. They slaughtered hundreds, gathered slaves, and laughed in joy at the blood curdling screams of the dying imperials. Taking this as prove of their superiority Irriyd gathered his forces and launched an attack on the planets capital. It was here that Irriyd found his mistake. The defenses around the capital were too great. Way too great, in fact, to be of a planet recovering from an Imperial Guard founding. Irriyd decided that something was indeed profoundly wrong. With regret he prepared to sound the retreat. Before he could sound the order, however, he received word from the fleet in orbit. The fleet had been engaged by an entire imperial combat group. Half the his was already destroyed. Irriyd cursed his luck and sounded the retreat. As the Dark Eldar fell back the sky turned to fire as the imperial drop ships arrived. The ensuing slaughter has since been stricken from the records of Vect’s archives. Out of the several thousand that attacked the planet a mere two hundred survived. Irriyd and the survivors limped out of the system with the remains of the fleet; to return to Vect with news of defeat. As it turned out, the planet was not in recovery from a founding, but was instead prepared and waiting for the Imperial fleet to complete their most recent founding. The ambitious Llia’ja discovered the fact and set his plan in motion, leaving Irriyd in charge of a terrible failure. Vect cared not for Irriyd’s reasoning of bad intelligence. He only cared for his lost warriors and ships. Irriyd would pay for his mistakes. Upon hearing Vect’s declaration of Irriyd’s impending doom Llia’ja laughed out loud and smiled in his victory. With a sudden realization of what had truly occurred Irriyd removed his pistol from its holster and fired a burst of hyper toxic splinters into the Llia’ja’s neck. Llia’ja fell shaking as the toxin slowly killed him. Vect simply nodded, also realizing what had transpired. Unfortunately, as Vect would explain, Irriyd was still responsible. He was banished from the upper city… forever.
The Birth of a Kabal The Kabal of Refracted Mortality did not start with a bang, nor a whisper. It started in complete silence. For it began with a single man with a burning desire deep within his heart. A desire for redemption. A desire to once again rise to the top of the cities towers. And so it was, as soon as Vect’s guards dropped Irriyd off in the deep darkness of the lower city, he started his work. He worked alone, at first. Assassinating the gang leaders in his area, gathering weapons and supplies… but before he knew it he had followers. And not the scum of the lower city as he might have imagined, but the survivors of the Valhallan massacre. They showed up one or two at a time, each with the same story. The survivors knew that he was not at fault for the defeat; that it was actually his sound tactics that got any of them out alive at all. Thus they swore allegiance to Irriyd. And so the Kabal of Refracted Mortality was born.
A Path to Darkness Irriyd would not suffer his enemies to live. He knew his goals, and he knew the prices he would pay to reach those goals. With the arrival of his survivors he now had a small army with which to conquer much of the lower city. Many of the trueborn survivors formed a bodyguard for Irriyd, known as the Darkest Veil. Since their founding the Veil has become a quiet legend amongst the inhabitants of the lower city. Not a single Mandrake has been seen near Refracted Mortalities territory since the Veil’s founding. Irriyd was once nearly killed by a Mandrake assassin, and since then has killed any he had contact with. The Veil saw the Mandrake problem as a way to prove their loyalty, slaughtering them all. The warriors of the Kabal grow darker and more menacing with every passing year. The lower city is hard. And though Irriyd controls his territory with absolute power, it is still a life in the lower city. The Kabal recruited a lesser known Haemonculi coven, the Coven of the Seven Wounds, to produce warriors and repair those damaged in raids. They have allied with a Wych Cult, the Cult of the Parried Blade, to provide close assault troops for raids in the lower city tunnels. Lastly, and most recently, Irriyd sought out the great Baron Sathonyx himself to seek allegiance with the hellion gangs. Through barter and promise a deal was struck and the Baron can frequently be seen delivering intelligence to Irriyd or even riding in a raid with him. Though diminished in name since his time as a great leader at Vect’s side, Irriyd has produced a great power in the lower city. More than this, he has created a threat to Vect's future. For Irriyd has grown very weary of the charms of the lower city. His eyes gaze up to the towers. He dreams. He desires. He plans his revenge.
Fighting style: Quick, out of the darkness. They tend to focus on stealth and mass misdirection.
Coven of the Seven Wounds
Led by Master Haemonculus Tyyl, The Coven of the Seven Wounds is a lesser known Coven focused on production of new warriors and beasts.
Cult of the Parried Blade
Led by Succubus Usha the deciever, The Cult of the Parried Blade focus their combat techniques on speed. Favoring hydra gauntlets over any other weapon, the cult launches an attack based purely on the number of strikes, and not the strength.
Hope to hear good responses!!!

| like it, especially the idea of him being a tyro that was banished. I have a few points I think could be fluffed out better (in my opinion) to make the background fit better.
1. Explain why Vect banished him rather than torturing him to death for his failure 2. Perhaps re-write why his former troops came to work for him, your current reasoning smacks of loyalty or gratitude, which doesn't sit very well with the DE psyche to my mind. perhaps he faked evidence of treachery and threatened to expose him to Vect, or their new commander led them to a string of minor defeats and banishment was better than death? 3. Not sure about the Baron connection, wouldn't have thought he'd be too pleased with acting as messenger, perhaps Irriyd could have saved him from a Mandrake ambush at some point, and there's an uneasy cooperation between them as a result? | |
