Hello everyone.

I run a standard venom spamish list for my 2k list and Ive had a lot of success with it at my local store and in the local tournaments. When I do lose I can usually pinpoint a bad move on my part, or an unexpected move from my opponent or rarely just bad rolls. However it all goes pear-shaped when I go up against GK or SW. The amount of s7-8 shots they can put out every turn just voids any kind of cover save or flicker field. 4+ cover? No problem, 32 s7 rending shots incoming. Somethings gonna get through!

For reference heres my list in a nutshell
succy w/ agonizer
haem
3 wracks
4 blasterborn w/ dakka venom x3
5 warriors w/ 1 blaster in dakka venom x2
7 wyches w/ heka w/ agonizer in raider
8 wyches w. heka w/ agonizer in raider
6 reavers w/ champion and 2 blasters
5 scourges w/ 2 haywire blasters
3 ravagers w/ ff

So fairly standard. I usually deploy castled up behind some terrain, with everything giving everything else cover saves. my 1st turn I turbo toward the biggest threat to generate some cover saves, and my long range AT starts taking pot shots. Most of the time I have good success with it.

So Im thinking that the only real way to combat all that shooting, is to not even be on the board, just put everything in reserve. I really like the playstyle of my list, but I just get totally shut down going against gk and sw. Tips or advice?

Drop the Psi-dreads and Long Fangs first with Ravagers and Venoms.

If they're fielding Razor spam then get a different army because your already dead.

As things stand in 5th, there isn't much to do against these guys since they have our number on speed dial.

Getting first turn against these lists is almost mandatory, either that or you may have to reserve, with all the risks that are involved with that.

For SW then target long fangs first and living lightning priests next.
GK's, it's got to be psi-dreads and psi ammo r/backs that drop first.

All the usual advice of using cover, limiting return fire and isolating enemy units is worth bearing in mind, but there is only so much you can do against the volume of fire that both these armies can generate. We can't outrange either of these lists so it may be worthwhile switching to wych units for troops, driving up and haywiring the crap out of their vehicles. Either that or more warrior/blaster units in raiders.

You might also want to play around with trixy HQs like Lady Malys and Vect. Deployment is key vs these armies and you need to play with their heads.

As for your list the Scourges and reavers may not help you much against these Wolves and Knights. Drugged up Wyches in combat quickly negates the power weapons of Knights. As for Wolves shut down the long fangs quickly. Might be you run Duke and deep strike a couple of venoms, or use an super sailed wyche squad to get to them quickly.

Good luck, wolves is a good dex while GKs are broken. They are bearable, but you can't play them on their terms.
