I'm new to DE (I've just bought my first 1k point list at GW) and in the process of getting everything painted to play. In the meantime I was kinda planning out strategies and ways to play against friends.

I'm mostly going to be up against SM, Tau and IG. The way my friends play their armies is that first turn they just take a step back and pull the trigger until the enemy is too weak to perform in CC. This is mosly true for SM since DE can take Tau and IG in CC mostly. Do you guys have any thoughts on how to handle playstyles like this? I'll post my list on request. TIA!

Def post your list in the Army lists section, maybe put a link to it here.

I heartily recommend pouring over the "Realspace Raids" (battle reports) as well. You'll see examples of all of the above and how they worked/ or were worked around.

Army list section would be ideal. However, Shooty armies like tau, IG and SM can only just out shoot a shooty DE list! A Venom with an extra cannon + 3 trueborn with 2 cannons inside it can put out 24 shots at 36". It is possible to take whole squads out with one.
Get all your units in transports if you can. 10 warriors with a cannon in a raider with splinter racks and Night shields as your core troop. Trueborn with Cannons or Blasterborn (3xTrueborn with 3xblasters) in venoms with extra cannons as your elite units. An Archon withan incubi retinue in another venom as your deathstar cc unit or skip the cc aspect and take a cheap haemocules!
Heavy support can be vital, Ravagers are superb, get dark lances on one for anti tank and get disintergrators on the other to deal huge damage to enemy elites and make a marine player cry!
DE can pour out a lot of volume of fire and that is a good trick to deal with everything. Nightshields are pretty useful in these scenarios and keeping everything in transports is very important for us. Good luck!
