| Dusted off some old models this afternoon. Haven't looked at them in a few years. I really liked the old Rogue Trader look of black armor/yellow with stripes look, so when the new Yriel model and plastic Wraithlord kit came out I had to pick up Eldar models for the first time in 15 years or so... These are some of my Guardians that I painted before I gave up on the army. I never figured out exactly how I wanted to apply the striping to the helmets. This is a shot of a WIP Farseer and Warlock. I really want to finish the Farseer to a higher standard once I get back into CWE. It is one of my favorite models that GW has produced in the last 10 years. I'll post some more pics of other stuff (if I can figure out where they are... ) Once I finish up my DE I'll be giving this army another go. Critques and comments much appreciated!

| Look good..I reckon the plain yellow on the helmets is probably better than the black stripes anyway. | |

| Very nice - although it also feels very Ulthwé-ish with this black, but I like it. | |

| Finish to a higher standard? Looks pretty decent to me already! I love the combination of black/dark blue and yellow, I've got a few black templars models I'm going to be doing in dark blue with a yellow-ish trim once my dark eldar are sorted.
Nice work though, looking forward to seeing what you make of the wraithlord!

Yea I know. I wish I could paint half this good. I think they look great with just the yellow helms. I think the stripes would make it too busy but that is me.

| I actually remember way how to apply stripes to helmets. Although you probably will need to remake helmets.
Base helmets with desired color of the stripes, apply liquid mask to areas you want to be stripes , paint rest of the helmet, remove mask. Done )

I think they look great with just the yellow helms. I think the stripes would make it too busy but that is me. Oops, I meant to say "finish painting them". The robes and such are done, but I never finished painting the gems, shaded the helmets, painting up some runes. I ran out of steam while starting this army back in 2006-7 and never finished it. I was painting a lot of armies for friends and got really burnt on painting. It wasn't until I started painting my new Dark Eldar that I fell in love with painting again. I never put the stripes on the yellow helms for the reason that you mentioned-I think that it would look a little busy if not done properly. If my airbrush could actually spray a fine enough line I might try it, but I think that brushed-on stripes would look a little busy.

| Dat is a truly luv'ly boomwagon ESE! Very characterful and beautifully painted, as always. I admire anyone who can do checks well, and anything wiff lucky bloo paint on it is pure win I dug mine out recently [linky] and have been enjoying causing some mayhem with them once again. | |

| Damn Gobs, those are nice! I really wanted to paint my battlewagon in all blue like that, but was worried that it would look boring. Now, I can see that all that I would need to do is break up the blue with battle damage and rust! If I didn't have a Razorwing to paint for the third round of the Archon's Challenge I might be prone to getting distracted again... The checks are easy too: draw them on with a .05mm Micron pen, then just paint them in. Easy! | |

| Excellent paint job!
And: Epic is a true gem, sad to see so few people playing it, for I loved it before (and yes, I have Imperial Guard just as you do)

| So I've decided what my non-DE summer distraction project will be: Flames of War Soviets! I played a massive Mid-war Soviet Infantry battalion that I painted in a Stalingrad theme with ruined urban bases (big surprise!). I got out of FOW around when the Late War stuff started coming out. I bought IS-2's, ISU-122's, and a Sapper Engineer company, but never painted them or played much due to FOW burn-out. Painting a MASSIVE Soviet Infantry battalion will do that... The plan for the summer is to paint one DE unit a month while finishing this Engineer Sapper list. I want my engineers to match the ruined urban bases of my Mid-war army, but wanted to model the first company storming fortifications and the second, smaller company in defensive positions. Just figured out how I wanted to base them using Miliput, 28 gauge wire, and really thin balsa wood strips that I purchased YEARS ago when I bought the engineer box set. Comments and critique wanted! And yes, those are tiny green stuff sandbags that I made. I just primed these two and will post some painted pics later. Cheers- ESE | |

| ADD can be hell, tell me about it - but with bouts of hyperfocus, you can accomplish miracles :-) Might as well be Soviets :-) | |

| First painted engineers: I used a mixture of Reaper Master Paints, Vallejo, and GW paints and am very happy with the results. Pretty quick to paint; too bad that I have 44 more infantry teams to base and paint I think that I'll pick up a box of T-34/85's to round out a full unit that I want to field with these guys. | |
