| At what point range should I start picking up ravagers? I will be pushing close to 1k this week. Are ravagers needed by that point? So you understand, I currently have a box of warriors and an archon. This Thursday I am picking up a battleforce and incubi box. I was wondering if I should get a Ravager or a venom/raider combo instead. | |

| Moving this to Tactics.
I think there's always space for a Ravager, 105pts nets you 3 DLs which is nothing to be sniffed at. I run a Ravager in my 500pts list that I use time to time.
You need to look at what you want in your army eventually, will you be using Wyches and Reavers? If you simply plan on collecting the army then go for the Battleforce but always buy towards what you plan to use. Assuming you have the Codex, why not look at what you want to include first before commiting to purchases you may regret in the future?

| Currently I won't be using the reavers but I think I will eventually do so. I like what I have read about a group of six of them running around for AI and very glasscannon AT. The wyches I intend to run with 9/hekatrix combo or run them 8/hekatrix/haemmy combo. Raider either way for quick cc or I might do a wwp on the archon incubi with the raider. Plus with another set of warriors I can setup a blasterborn combo for when I eventually put -some venom spam- If I get more competitive. Otherwise it will get me more objective holders for now plus a DL. This is my first wh40k army so I used the first box of warriors to experiment within such. | |

| Then I think your next purchases would be the Battleforce, Ravager and Venom. Play some games with them and you'll begin to get a feel for what you like. Don't be afraid to use units that you like, no matter what the internet thinks; however don't be surprised when you work out Blasterborn are more effectice than Mandrakes | |

| Which do you think I should pick up first? Ravager? I am limiting myself and the venom and Ravager won't make the cut this week. Maybe two weeks from now :-). It seems like my army as a whole is lackIng AT. Probably should go with the Ravager. As for mandrakes, the only reason I would see myself picking them upsoon would be that they look cool when they are painted well but unfortunately my painting skills are far subpar for that ;-) ask my poor warrior at home that now has six coats of paint on him from practicing! | |

| If you're going by list purposes, go for the Ravager, it will give you much needed anti-tank. A lot of people will tell you to start all games 1500+ to start off with 3 Ravagers and that's not a bad idea.
Going by modelling and a bit of fun, the Venom. You're going to be putting together a Raider which is 75% Ravager, why not try out a Venom. You can also use the hangers on from both sets to test paint schemes on.

| Ravager have best point/shot ratio of Dark Lances in book (and second best AT ratio overall too). Oh and it's vehicle, AV11, with Aerial Assault (You can move 12" and shoot all weapons, so Lances have up to 48" range, nice.).
I think Battleforce would benefit from Raider most due to 10 men (or women) squads. So pick Ravager, add magnets and bam! You can have either of those (as wll as represent "weapon destroyed" result on model). It's good to have solid fundations.
Or if You can, try to get Raider and Venom, for Incubi. Both are excellent, as well as "You pretty much have to buy me" choices.

| I generally start adding Ravagers when I get to 105 pts-They're literally that good. I would take two of them in a 1000pt list. | |

| Well for me DE started from purchasing 2 Ravagers. They are so good and cheap that you can actually include them in 500 points games. | |

| Aye, Ravagers are an essential. I tried a 700 point game recently against Deathwing with no Ravagers. While the rending from Razorwings and Blasters in my Warrior Squad and Trueborn did help, I was really missing the long range firepower Ravagers give. Also as a general rule, I've found that the more Darklight weapons (Dark Lances, Blasters, etc.) in a list, the better you are. This is especially true if you're playing a Kabal list, as a mechanized army could care less about the 12-22 poisoned shots you pump out of a Venom. | |

| IMHO Kabal is more than able to do "Darklight Disco". | |

| Oh Kabals can absolutely bring the pain with Darklight weapons. I was just saying that they should | |

| The battle force comes with all 3, ravager, raider and venom. An extra ravager would be next IMO. | |

| Yeah. I had one in my cart in December and canceled it so I would have more money for xmas. Went back two weeks later and they were sold out lol. I am kicking myself for it now. Anyway, didn't get a chance to pick up the Ravager yesterday. I didn't have time to play and my local store gives discounts on wh40k stuff for people that stay and play on wh40k night. So I'll have to wait until next Thursday. | |

| As one who thinks he should always put in his two cents, even though half the time no one really cares, Ravagers are an Archons best friend. I don't think I've ever sat down to write a list above 1k and not tried to finagle two of the beauties in to it. | |

| I really like ravagers with DCs. Nothing else will lift a terminator squad off the table so quickly. | |
